I still loved my Wolf in the Fold guess, but seems like it's clearly The Apple. Mallory, Marple, Kaplan, and Vaal preventing the transporter from working. If I'm right, can't wait to hear the cordrazine tie-in.

No, the Scotty's pay line is from The Doomsday Machine. In The Apple, it's firing and hiring Scotty. Scotty did seem to be a recurring source of HR-related lines.

Oh, and for anyone else following, Sulu and Chekov and some extras have a weird conversation in the rec room with Lokai, who delivers quite a badly-written speech in his defense. For some reason the director decided to frame the shot with Spock listening outside the room, which meant that the door had to be open a crack. Bizarre.
Could you explain the clue?
I always wondered why that door stayed open a few inches.
