Name That STAR TREK Episode...

Yes, I was assuming a link was available. But, it is still like us on Earth putting a library station at the south pole and then having a satellite link. Why not put it in NY city or at a University and then let everyone link up? For memory alpha, why not any inhabited planet? The problems are time-lag, maintenance, manning the station, and having a hotel to stay at, and restaurants to eat at, if you decide to actually go there for research. I remember an episode where even sub-space radio was going "to take 2 weeks at this distance", which would make it unusable for active/interactive research. You would have to plan ahead and do a mass download for all data you think you might need.

There is only darkness of a wrong answer like the dead race on Zetar. For it to be amazing, it must be a reference to the highest achievement in history.

1st Clue: An amazing prediction of reality though not perfect, but still amazing after 50 years.
2nd Clue: A confusing prediction of fandom though maybe correct, but still confusing after 50 years.

I was coming up empty, but then something hit me. In "Tomorrow is Yesterday" the following words are said.

MAN [OC]: This is the five thirty news summary. Cape Kennedy. The first manned Moon shot is scheduled for Wednesday, six am Eastern Standard Time. All three astronauts who are to make this historic
(Kirk signals it cut off)
KIRK: Manned Moon shot? That was in the late 1960s.

In fact, the launch was in the late 1960's which is a good prediction made 2-3 years ahead of the date. And, I think is was also on a Wednesday morning.

Clue 1: Amazing, but not perfect because the time is not exactly correct.

Clue 2: Confusing for fandom because later generations might not have the exact production dates in their head, and might assume that the episode was produced after the moonshot.

Winner! It is Tomorrow is Yesterday. Good job, @Steven P Bastien.

You got clue 1 right on the nose. TV Coverage began Wednesday at 8:00 am EST, not 6:00 am. Kirk said is was in the late 1960's. It was just a couple of weeks ago for the 50th anniversary of the moon shot launch on July 16 in 1969 on a Wednesday.
2nd Clue: A confusing prediction of fandom though maybe correct, but still confusing after 50 years.
For clue 2, I was referring to the Kirk's quip that 200 years would be about right which confuses the exact time of TOS: Was it 200 years or 300 years in the future which we are still discussing on this site after 50 years.

A Piece Of The Action?
1. The Horizon visits the planet to help the advancement of its civilization by leaving technical manuals and other books on Earth history. When the Enterprise returns a hundred years later, they are met with hostility and greed. WTF? :wtf:

Interesting answer to consider a good deed and delayed punishment. But, to give a hint, the good deed and the punishment occur within a short time of each other.

Clue #2 But, for another good deed, the original good deed would have been rescinded by another in retribution for many undeserved punishments.

Hmmmm. This sounds like Friday's Child, and Kirk saving Eleen only to see all of them condemned to death.

Not Friday's Child, but that episode does have a lot of ruthless characters.

Clue #3 No doubt, the good deed would have been repeated to counteract the deed of the other, if it came to that. The heroes were in control by that point anyway. Our faith is restored and it is always better to be the good Samaritan, despite the risks.

It sounds like two incidents or rather two people are involved. I'll guess Let That Be Your Last Battlefield. Kirk "helps" both Lokai and Bele :techman:, then they betray Kirk's generosity, Bele twice. Even after Bele's first betrayal in trying to take over the ship, Kirk invites him to a meal and after dinner drinks. Then he does it again. :wtf:

It's not Let That Be Your Last Battlefield. I'm glad they left those two bad guys behind.

Clue #4 It's always best to leave the bad and take the good.

That sounds like "Journey To Babel" with all the "should Spock give his blood" thing, Kirk is stabbed but pretends that all is well so that Spock can give blood. Spock remembers a thing at the last minute but it doesn't help... And Amanda gives her speech about all this talk of "logic" being sickening to her...

Plato's Stepchildren?
1. Good deed: McCoy save Parmen's life. Bad deed: Keep McCoy and kill everyone else and destroy the Enterprise.
3. Kirk gets the power too, putting him in charge.
5. Good thing in a little package is Alexander.

You got it Henoch!

Some other aspects to the clues.
#2 Alexander wants to cut Parmen at the end, which would put Parmen back to square one.
#3 Had Alexander done that, McCoy would have saved Parmen again.
#4 They take "good" Alexander with them when they leave, and they leave the "bad" Stepchildren behind.

Your turn Henoch.

The problem with episodes you don't like is that you tend not to remember much about them, which is my case with "Plato..."

My trick was to not reference the more horrible scenes that might be etched in your memory. Hence, no mention of horses or flamenco dancing in space boots.
