Most of the clues are self-explanatory.

This scene of Spock musing was the one and only time in the series. Whether it was originally scripted or decided later, I'm not sure. But it's certainly a one-off.

Also, we get two shots of the two ladies which were presumably filmed for this scene. I would imagine they are in the mind of Spock being visualised, since these close up shots aren't shown beforehand. A nice touch.

Whether or not this scene is a filler, it's an interesting 'aside' moment.

Elaan of Troyius: The scene has Captain Kirk and Elaan, in her quarters, where she cries because she doesn't want people to hate her.

Clue 3: Kirk sounds a little annoyed after fixing the problem.
