Clue 1: Two birds = Two Romulan Warbirds in the episode.
Clue 2: An old friend = Picard refers to Captain DeSoto as “old friend” when we meet him at the beginning of the episode.
Clue 3: 20 hours = The time Geordi says it will take to repair the Enterprise, after Tin Man destroys the first Romulan Warbird.
Clue 4: 1-2-3 = Starbase 123, the base that Data reports has detected the two Romulan Warbirds heading for Tin Man.
Clue 5: 10 minutes, actually 15 = Picard originally planned to have the staff briefing in 10 minutes, then Tam reads his mind, tells everyone 10 minutes so Picard changes it to 15 minutes.
Clue 6: “Something... remarkable.” is what Data says to Troi about his experience aboard Tin Man at the end of the episode.
