Nacelle proxcimity to primary hull- a question...

From a top view of the NuEnterprise, if you draw a line from the leading edge of each nacelle to each other, it cuts through a small section of the primary hull.
Does this not engender a danger to the peeps working in these areas? Were the nacelles not removed physically from the rest of the superstructure to avoid detrimental warp-field-produced or radiation effects on crew?
Can anyone explain the design change?
Are there warp/radiation dampening fields in the close parts of the primary hull I'm not aware of?

WWMJS?*

*what would Matt Jefferies say?

No one knows what Matt Jefferies would say, though he was known to complain pointlessly about the aesthetics of later Trek set design.

Since none of this is real, the fake rules can be revised as necessary.

I have no idea what possessed Mr. Church to place the nacelles so close together. But I just looked at a top view of the Abramsprise and it doesn't look like the nacelles overlap the saucer. They get pretty close, but not quite to the point of overlap. But that's looking at this image. And I'm not completely sure of the accuracy. God, the more I look at that ship, the more I despise it. The proportions are all wrong. But that's just my opinion. WWMJS? I'm sure he'd be rather upset that his beautiful design was reduced to a parodic caracature of its former self.

I once thought about this too, and my idea was that the ramscoops at the front of the nacelles are pretty much harmless, but the more "dangerous" warp field generating coils further within the nacelles are actually located at a safe distance from both the primary and secondary hulls.

That's not so accurate IMO, and it places the nacelles at a distance from the primary hull that I would actually be a little more comfortable with.
