Myers Briggs Personality Tests. Or any other Similar Test. Valid?

Well, that's different. I usually score INFP, but with the link in the first post I scored INFJ.

MBTI results aren't "hard." It's really up to the user to decide what they are. The tester should give them a description of the type and nearby types and let the user decide which "fits" best.

I'm either an INTJ or an ENTP. It somewhat depends upon my mood and circumstance.
Strange, I was just about to post the same thing.

I've been doing a bit of research to help explain it. Apparently, it may have something to do with "shadow functions." The shadow functions of an INTJ mimic an ENTP, and the shadow functions of an ENTP mimic an INTJ.

Later personality researchers [24] added four additional functions to the descending hierarchy, the so-called "shadow" functions to which the individual is not naturally inclined but which can emerge when the person is under stress. The shadow processes "operate more on the boundaries of our awareness…We usually experience these processes in a negative way, yet when we are open to them, they can be quite positive."

Curious.

I'd like to know from others with more experience with these types of tests their overall validity and whether one should be wary of reading too deep into them. Also are there any tests out there anyone can recommend for someone in my scenario? Cheers! :techman:
Like everyone else said, it's an indicator. Take it into consideration but reading too much into it probably won't do much good.

I know that INTJs are supposed to be rare, but they're all online! I feel like I'm surrounded by them!

Well that might be because certain types gravitate more towards certain things. I types might find it easier to interact with others online rather than in person. As I types are said to find large social gatherings tiring whilst E types are said to prefer these.

One has to wonder if there are more I types on here than E types.
Probably, but I got ENFP, and I'm here. We exist.

I clicked on the career thing in the OP link... psychology, counseling, journalist/reporter, literature and writing, film producer, marketing, public relations. I've always been interested in writing, I used to be a marketing major, and am now a psych major, and I've considered all these careers aside from film production. Interesting.

I made the change from marketing to psych because Dr. Kommander: Awesome Sex Therapist! makes for a better business card than Mr. Kommander: Some Sort of Marketing Guy.

Well I am sort of my correct career type for an INTJ, being in Management, though I did train to be an Electronics Engineer at college.

See? They're everywhere!

Also that explains so much about you. :p

Yeah, I'm very intensely INTJ. Well, not so much so on the J-P spectrum, but definitely very strongly on the other dimensions.
Funny, I have almost exactly the same result: deep I, N, and T, fuzzy between J and P. (Actually, this is changing with age: I was moderate J, now I'm almost in the middle between J and P, depending on mood.)

Funny, but not surprising. :D

I'm shocked; shocked I tell you... :p
