My wild idea for glasses-less 3D system.

What's wrong with my "improvement"?

What was wrong with the OP's suggestion that you felt you had to "improve" it?

Packing thousands of tiny motors into one 3-D TV set would 1) increase the cost, 2) increase the risk of breakdown (more moving parts), and 3) increase the weight so much that you'd have to reinforce the floor.

Plus, I don't know what you mean by "blocks that break into other shapes."
 
Don't some video projectors already use an array of motorised mirrors? I'm sure that's been available since the late 90's.
 
What's wrong with my "improvement"?

You ever see that bed of pins thing at a novelty toy store? The one where you stick your hand or face or something in it and push the pins to make an "image" of it? Yeah, your idea strikes me as a bit like that. IMHO, it's look lame and, well, like a bunch of motortized complicated blocks sticking out of a wall.
