Hey Warp Nine can you please post your design you have for TAS scout ship that is in the first size comparison?

When I finally tackle the TAS shuttlecraft designs I will be looking for a way to make them look a bit closer to how they appeared onscreen. The aquashuttle is the one that will require the most effort in this regard. I can honestly say up front that the TAS designs will not exactly like they did onscreen, but they will be recognizable.

A small note of interest: Alan Dean Foster's description of the aquashuttle in his adaptation of "The Ambergris Element" sounds drastically different than what we saw onscreen and could even be interpreted to some extent as being a description of the Proteus from the '66 film Fantastic Voyage..

Actually, it has been mentioned in the past that the design on the right is one that similar, if not identical to Carter Winston's ship in The Survivor.

I really like Carter Winston's micro-scoutship. It looks to be a very practical and space-efficient design. Maybe that's what the "Slaver Weapon" ship shoud've looked like. I think it would be neat if the nacelle wings could tilt down and unfold (like the NX-Delta in ENT's "First Flight") so that they would be situated outboard like wings during flight.

I'm not sure there is really enough of the ship seen in that shot above to extrapolate what the rest of it looks like.

Has anyone ever designed a saucer-style scout vehicle with fold-in nacelles, sized to just fit on the hangar deck's turntable/elevator? I wonder what kind of useful overall volume such a vessel could offer...

You're not right. You know that?
I just felt a breeze as something flew right over the top of my scalp...

Help... enlighten me!

Tallguy: I'm very well aware of that fact, and as I approach middle-age have learned to acept it. :)

Cary: Go rent the movie "The Life Aquatic" starring Bill Murray. All will be explained therein.

Actually, youv'e been anticipated in your aproach to make the TAS shuttles more detailed and realistic, by those who drew the Huron and cargo drone. Both of these ships as blueprinted, differ substantially from thier counterparts seen on screen.

P.S.(or is it P.P.)I forgot to mention the guys from 'Federation Frontiers' who blueprinted the ships of the Delta triangle, and a shuttle (though I Like yours better!)

Starscape came up with an interesting shuttlecraft design. You may want to check out Starscape's web-site to see the shuttle in some of the images there.

I'm afraid to bring this up, reading the the historical parts of this thread, but someone on MA back in the day found out a quote from the New York Times (linky):
Thomas W. Kellogg, an industrial designer who worked on the Avanti, a radically styled, powerful sports coupe [...]

After the Avanti, Mr. Kellogg went on to work on designs for exteriors of Rolls-Royce, Porsche and recreational vehicles; dinnerware for Wedgwood; the interior design of the DC-10 aircraft for McDonnell Douglas; and the shuttle craft for the ''Star Trek'' television series. [...]

I am not particularly knowledgeable about the original production timelines, nor do I know what exactly this Mr. Kellogg had to do with the design, and how it all fits together with Gene Winfield/Matt Jefferies/AMT. I'm jus throwing in this odd fact.

It's come to my attention recently that someone has expressed interest in rendering my TOS shuttlecraft as a 3D model.

Sweet!

However, at this point I'll refrain from saying who and leave it to them to reveal their intentions at their convenience.
