my take on the TMP-E

the latest saucer image is actually a different saucer than shown in the wireframe one previously. i screwed up the grid-scribing, and had to re-do it with finer channels. you can see on the earlier one i forgot to bump up the sides before i cut them into the saucer.

i'll post a wireframe of the new one when i get back into it tomorrow, i'm too tired to open it all up tonite :cardie:

here's that wireframe of yesterdays work. its the same geometry, just higher resolution on the upslope and grid cuts. today i'll be doing the bottom of the saucer.

I've always wondered if the hatches on the outside and the phasers corresponded with the rooms in the hull.

CTM would be the chap to put that question to. the farthest i have gotten into internal layouts has been merely horizontaly locating/grouping/fitting the footprints.

almost done with the saucer! just have to cut the lowermost windows in, and finish scribing the hatches on the botom too.

major progress! i recieved a little schooling in mesh-modeling the last couple days... and once again the entire saucer has been re-created, this time for the LAST time! :guffaw:

not only am i happier with it, but the poly-count is down to less than 2/3 of what it was before...

tomorrow i'll get started on the neck!

Looks like you'll still end up with an impressive polycount, but that's what you get when you make an impressive model.

tomorrow i'll get started on the neck!

My cousins are telling me "That's what she said."
I'm not sure what they're talking about...but they're laughing for some reason.
They've been doing this all day.

Anyway...It looks great except that the lettering seems to high above the hull.

tyvm gentlemen!

and Wjaspers, yes its in Max.
this pass i'm only re-creating the 8' model. if its not on the model then i'm not modeling it...

the next version will be the full fledged inside and out version, and it will be a combo of Max/Cad. but for now i just want to get something to start from!

i managed to finished off the neck and torpedo room.

this is probably the last update for a few weeks however. i want to work on my dry-dock this week!

The neck needs to be wider on the top (at the back and the front side), and the filletcurve needs to be much smaller.

i think you both got it spot on for the curve, i used the same fillet on the trailing edge that i did for the leading one. i think you're correct that the one on the back is too fat.

i'm still pretty happy with the width of the structure itself though. but i do agree something is wonky, i think its the green "sail" (for lack of a better work) structure. i believe its too wide at the end back there, making the neck look skinnier than it is.

the ptorp rooms roof is still tenative. it still needs shaping that i wasnt going to work on untill the hull was done down there, sooo... i wasnt planning on making any changes to this this week, but i went ahead yesterday and shaped the secondary hull out to help with the eyeballing on the neck :rommie:

i havnt made any changes to anything yet, this is just with the new hull in there to see if you see anything else amiss.
