Religion, what is it good for, absolutely nothing.

I would really love to know why you felt the need to post this.

BTW, Phoenicianknight - Congratulations on what sounds like a wonderful occasion. Every blessing to you and your family.

Congrats. My son has is 'interview' for first communion with the priest (to make sure he understands the sacrament). In early may he makes his first communion. I hadnt given thought to his dress (tux Vs. suit). I think I'll go with a traditional navy blue suit for him.

He thought about it for a second, then he asked me if he could wear a tux at his next Sacrament? I thought about for a second, and told him not only can he wear one, it almost a requirement. (He has already been baptised, had confession, he was confirmed, and now recieved his first communion.)

So, if you are keeping score, there are only 3 Sacraments left, Holy Orders and/or Marriage, and anoiting of the sick. So unless he remains single, or becomes a priest, his next Sacrament should be Marriage.
Question...how did he make his confirmation before his 1st communion? I know in my parents day it used to be that you did your confirmation before 1st communion, but since Vatican Council II Confirmation was put off much later. 8th grade for me. 7 years later my brother had to wait till 9th grade, and my eldest wont receive it until 10th grade.

I did my confirmation as an infant. I was baptised, given a drop of Holy wine, and confirmed at 1 month of age. It was a tradition in Mexcio that my wife followed through here. In mexico in the "olden days", not every town had a priest. He cmae in only once a year or so. SO the babies that were born got all three sacraments at the same time. Since there was a 50/50 chance babies didn't live past that first year.

I later went through all the classes though my Catholic education, and went through the sacraments again, but there doesn't seem to be any rules in what order they go in. (Except for baptism and anoiting of the sick of course)

With the anniversary of my mother's death around the corner. I decided to read this thread again.

Made me smile and cry at the same time.......

My condolences to you and your family on the occasion of your Mother's anniversary. I hope you are able to look back on the good times now with more happiness than pain.

I'm closing this Thread now, because it's against the Rules to resurrect a Thread that's more than two years old. You should download it to your computer and save it for posterity.
