Background.. I became a Dr. Who fan at the tender age of 13.. Introduced to it by my brother who spent time in England and turned me on to it.. I watched every episode I could on my local PBS station.. I held my fandom close to the vest as I went through highschool on the football team... But It's been a love affair with the whole concept ever since...
Years later, imagine my glee when the announced the new series.. I've loved every minute of it, even the uneveness of the first season...
My kids (daughter 11 and son 8) have been casual fans (at least as much as I could tell) through this..
But today, as I opened up my latest Netflix package to reveal the Peter Davison episode "Black Orchid" (my all time personal favorite "classic" episode), my son blew me a way by doing an "OH YEAH!!!!" along with a Tiger Woods fist pump...
He even chose to watch it without me as I had a meeting to attend this evening..
When I got home, he was eager to watch it again with me and was amazed when I told him that I had met and talked at length with the actress who played Tegan (Janet Fielding)..
Later on at bed time, he said that the show kind of freaked him out, even more than any of the new series... To me this is very telling of the writing, even back then...
Sorry to belabor this, but I'm just amazed at his love for the show... My children continue to amaze me every day, with all the things that they discover..
Things that we as adults, took for granted long ago...
