Your son is 26, this is none of you business.
If you REALLY want to do him a favour, give him 60 days notice and then kick him out of your house. He will thank you eventually.
Well, you do have to kick him out sometime, you know. Let him stand on his own two feet in the big bad world. He likes living with me because it saves him money and therefore he can spend his money on anime and music instead of having to pay for an apartment. He enjoy enjoys the cooked meals and having his washing done etc.
I always get a kick out of people who try to appear above it all by denigrating porn as "a mere substitute for the real thing." This pretty much negates the whole concept of Art, Photography, Literature, Moviemaking, Music....![]()
It also doesn't take into account that many couples use porn as a tool to aid/spice up their sex lives.
My son who is 26 years old loves to watch anime. Except for the occasional sci-fi movie, a handful of TV shows (Dexter, Supernatural and Heroes) and wrestling, anime is about all he watches.
Now I don't look at anime because the characters big eyes freak me out. Therefore I don't know much about anime. Some of the anime he likes is
Ghost in a Shell
Bleach
Black Cat
Full Metal Alchemist
Inu Yashu
ChronoCrusade
Dragonball Z
Is it normal for a young man to be looking at anime (rather than porn)?
Anime is the latest annoying pop culture fad. I got out of it a few years ago. It's totally okay, as long as they don't start making statement like "It's not cartoons, it's anime" or "Japanese Shows are better than American ones" and other obnoxious stuff. Make sure he doesn't start using Japanese words in his English sentences.
The moment he starts saying Anime is not a fad, it's a lifestyle, it's time for an intervention.
As long as it doesn't control his life, and Girlfriends remain more important to him than Goku's Power Levels (which are, I believe, quite hight), he's okay.

Hate to tell you this, but Anime has been a 'pop culture fad' in the West since the 1960ies. StarBlazers got it some more notice in the late 1970ies; but it's been going fairly strong in the U.S. since Robotech hit the air back circa 1985; and has been moderately popular ever since. It's hardly 'new'; and I seriously doubt it'll be dropping of the pop culture radar anytime soon.
If you're talking pop culture, then yeah, things ebb and flow. You're not going to get the three hours on net tv forever, even Disney left that. But it's spread out enough that it's not going to be a small cult following any more. How many people heard about it 1995? A small cult following.

It's like computer animation, for a while it was just a gimmick, but now it's used more than traditional animation in movies.
Miscellaneous would be a boring place if we couldn't talk about the people in our lives.
He has learnt it is easier to live with Mum that with friends.
I am concerned, guys. My grandma has stopped masturbating, which I learned when noting the level of vaseline in her container the bathroom. I have tried confronting her on the point, and even leaving toys around, but it is of no avail and she refuses to discuss the topic -- leading me to believe something is very wrong. Do you think she might be depressed? How often do your grandmas masturbate, TrekBBSers?
(not) Sincerely,
Richard
