They might have used a different ship altogether after the original E if there wasn't the strong negative reaction to the Excelsior.
It was never clear how they got into the Reliant's torpedo bay, so this kind of design suits that era pretty well.
Still, wouldn't mind seeing those torp bays turned 90 degrees and mounted on the struts, giving you something similar to the Comet's jet engines.
Yeah, add to that the "how did they get to the bottom of the Grissom" argument and the "where's the toilet" quandry. The 24th century sure has a lot of question marks.
I guess I was one of the few people disappointed at the end of ST-4 when it wasn't the Excelsior. I loved that ship from the first moment it appeared on the big screen in ST-3.
I think your image succeeds on all levels, but especially this one: As one who loved the DS9 kitbash fleets, thanks very much for this brilliant homage. Let's see more next year! Best, MyClone
Anyway...finally got my copy of the calendar. Looks great in my hands, as it did on-screen. I still foresee a novel springing from this image.
im hoping for a new book or Data sheets using these designs from Jackill www.jackill.com or from Mastercom Data center or someone with that kind of Talent
I like your John Glenn design. It looks like a cousin to a TOS-era design by Starscape called the Spitfire. Keep up the good work.
I'm pretty sure the "original" concept for the E was upside down compared to what we got. I think I've seen it referred to as the Apollo, but I can't actually back that up with paperwork. I'll keep searching though.
