hmmmm liner-battle cruiser. You know that has got me thinking about what the british did in world war one with thier liners (well wanted to do)
just one ship this is based on an idea inspired by kaisernathan1701 the city class liner

In 2290 The city class liners started their life’s as upper class passenger transports the Stella cruiser line ordered 6 of these large vessels built and within two years the first the s.s London was launched plying her trade between earth and Andria with each ship being commissioned the Stella cruise lines profit margins increased by a large margin. They were planning a newer better appointed range of liners to supplement the city class but another cruise line the northern star line decided they wanted a cut of the upper class market but they had a problem, money. They new the city class were the ideal platform for their needs but even one ship was well beyond their bank balance, but a shareholder remembering something from earths history remembered the British government helped a cruise line build two ships if they were turned over to them during times of war this appealed to the shareholder who got on board a few of his fellow shareholders. One of the shareholders was admiral Golsten, he saw the merit of such a move as he knew Starfleet could not build very many of the controversial dreadnought designs that he felt Starfleet needed to hold off an attack from the unstable Klingon empire or the Romulan empire.
He put the plan to his sector chief of operations who after mulling over the idea agreed to allow four ships to be built, a delighted admiral gosten quickly went back to the company and told them the conditions, the board agreed so the ships were laid down.
The ships were all built to a basic plan form of the city class but the internal fitting were different as apart from the posh fittings the builders had to work round Starfleet engineers while the power conduits and weapons hard points were fitted. Also slightly more powerful engines were fitted giving the class a slightly higher warp speed to the original city class. The first ship the s.s atlantis slipped her moorings in 2293 closely followed by her sister ships the Lemuria, Palendrah, and the Amazonia. The class was known as the city II’s They all plied the space lanes making money for the northern star line normaly between earth and risa, everyone was happy with the ships and they had a rosy future when suddenly the gorn decieded to attack Starfleet after being misinformed that Starfleet were un prepared for a war after the intial attacks from the gorn Starfleet was seriously weakened, they knew they couldn’t afford to pull ship from the Klingon border as the empire was unstable admiral Golsten then jumped in ans said the city II’s would help stem any further attacks until Starfleet could get more heavy combat ships into the gorn area. Sdtarfleet agreed and thus the city II’s were recalled for action and within three weeks the s.s atlantis was converted to a warship. This Starfleet liked very much as the weapons carried were ten photon topedo tube fwd facing four aft also four of the new phaser cannons were fitted the shield generators were given their military powere module and the phaser banks were made active. The atlantis patroled along the gorn border for a week when two gorn cruisers came out of a asteroid belt to attack the atlantis fired on them blasting one apart but the second cruiser was quickly pounding away at the atlantis, it was then the weakness of arming merchant ship became clear for the atlantis proved to be very slow in manoeuvring ’flies like a brick’ her master was reported to say it was only the timely arrival of the u.s.s Yorktown with her escort that prevented the atlantis from being destroyed as she sat in space dock it was reported that two of her sisters were destroyed the amazonia and the Lemuria were hit by in turn by lone cruisers, it was then that Starfleet decied it was a bad idea and pulled the program. The city II’s were used for troop transport until the gorn war ended when they were stripped of their military equipment. The wear and tear of military operations was too much for the s.s Palendrah which was crapped soon as the war ened, the atlantis plied her normal route but was never the same ship again her life was cut short as better liner appeared she was relegated to the inner core systems before ending her days in 2300 at the delta four scrap yard

got four more ships this time. The first is my take on the challenger class starship, i based this from a side view i had seen from i think it was the asdb site i'm not sure what the pod underneath is possibly a sensor platform

the 2nd is my version of the larson, the u.s.s fletcher. what always bugged me about the original larson was that the warp power/ plasma seemed to be split into two parts then take a sharp bend before hitting the nacelle thus i decieded to do just one central pylon, also changed the hull basing it off the tos miranda

the 4th is a torpedo cruiser version of the greyhound called the u.s.s kitakami. i saw the world war ship of the same name and acording to what i read the thing has 40 torpedo tubes i thought it was a cool idea and thus the starfleet version was born though carrying not as many torpedo tubes(only six facing forwards with two aft)

Nevertheless, nice work overall! That City class has a real unique primary hull shape.
ah yes thats where i got it from forgot about the galaxy type version
got three ships joining up this time. The first one was inspired by a design from I believe forbin the peregrine class i always thought was a cool ship and wanted to do a more heavily armed version of it thus the u.s.s falcon was born

three more ships this time. The first is an upgrade to the runabouts in ds9,
after the domininion war starfleet relised the runabouts were fine craft but if they were enter the wormhole into the gamma quadrant then they would need a stronger craft thus the alpha fours were born they are a more robust form with larger warp nacelles they are faster at warp 7 top speed and can carry a crew of 12 though six is the norm. They are 50% larger then the danube class runabouts

the second small craft was originally going to be a un manned drone inspired by the ones in best of both worlds. Got the idea while i was working on the jill valentine starship

third one is a proper starship the u.s.s jill valentine. She is a ambassodor variant with a roll bar on the saucer and dropped nacelles.
the roll bar had two phasers cannons port and starboard the pod carries a sensor pod similar to the nebula class ships. They were built in limit numbers around the time the enterprise 'c' was about

In the later half of 2283 the u.s.s Philadelphia was originally to be built as a standard constitution class starship, but half way through her build Starfleet gave her to Starfleet’s experimental engineering works at leeding engineering who were working on the transwarp project. She was extensively modified as it was assumed the standard configuration of the constitution class would not stand up to the stresses involved with Transwarp speeds.
The first thing done was the lowering of the engine nacelles, the pylons were cut in length by 45%, also her newly designed primary hull was lowered by the same amount. This cut out the relatively fragile neck pylon.
The major design was the primary hull which was intended for the never built star storm class starship. This was modified by adding an extra deflector in the forward section of the primary hull. This was deemed necessary as if the main one failed the back up would kick in also more sensors were fitted to help better understand Transwarp space.
New nacelles were built by Leeding engines corporation all this turned the Philadelphia into a new sleeker ship.
However unknown to the general population a disaster occurred that scrapped any further work on the transwarp project.
In 2285 the u.s.s excelsior was ready for trials with the u.s.s Philadelphia being a few weeks away from completion. However the excelsior had a abortive attempt to stop the theft of the u.s.s enterprise and was towed back to space dock after a complete system failure.
The people at Leeding were secretly delighted as the repairs on the excelsior would take weeks, they told Starfleet the Philadelphia would be ready before the excelsior thus the Philadelphia was the first ship to be used as a test bed for the transwarp project.
And so the u.s.s Philadelphia was launched 3 weeks after the excelsior was towed into space dock, the Excelsior trials were delayed by several problems with her systems. The Philadelphia was escorted by two Chandley class frigates and followed by the Oberth class scout the Daniel Jackson to collect data on the tests.
When they reached the test sight the escorts and scout with drew to a safe distance. Then the Philadelphia went into warp the data being automatically relayed to the Daniel Jackson, all seemed well with the designers of the ship thinking this may be a new class of ship to better the constitutions which were beginning to show their age. However they were dismayed as the Philadelphia went into transwarp for only a few moments before returning to normal space. They asked the captain what was wrong he reported that several of the crew were feeling ill but agreed to continue the test. The Philadelphia, after a few rewritten sub commands went into warp all contact was lost briefly the ship was found 12 hours later, the 1st officer reporting that most of the crew were very ill with nausea the escorts came along side to get the crew off as some strange readings were emanating from the ship as the first transporter was activated the Philadelphia disappeared with out warning only to suddenly reappear but a faint glowing was coming from the ship the escorts backed off as the Daniel Jackson reported strange subspace readings from the Philadelphia. However the captain of the frigate admiral Blake wasn’t going to leave the Philadelphia crew in trouble so he went back to help but the Philadelphia disappeared again crippling the Blake with a energy surge.
The Philadelphia was never seen again despite an extensive search for her, so on October 26th 2285 she and her crew were declared missing cause unknown, the press and relatives of the crew were not told about the tests. But a strange phenomenon occurred various people reported garbled messages claiming to be from the Philadelphia, Starfleet dismissed the reports as rumours until a couple of Starfleet captains travelling in the area also reported the same messages it was as though the Philadelphia was a extremely long way. The whole thing was hushed up until 2355 when reports started coming in about a Starfleet vessel near the old test site. Starfleet checked the reports and found nothing then a few messages came through claiming to be from the Philadelphia again these were ignored as a hoax, Starfleet had no ship called the Philadelphia but the reports were also coming in from Starfleet captains travelling through the area. Starfleet checked back and found that 70 years ago similar messages were reported. By this time Starfleet had the ships to triangulate where the signals were coming from better they sent a ship to investigate. The captain of the ship sent reported nothing was at the coordinates and set course for home which was a three month trip away suddenly his main power failed as his ships auxiliary power came on they found a Starfleet ship that was unlike anything he had seen before however the ship failed to respond and the sensors could not pinpoint it exactly for a beam over then the ship disappeared. after searching through Starfleet records the high command found it was the Philadelphia or a ship close to its configuration they are still at a loss as to what it was to this day.
