As a deep space explorer, in early Trek, I am thinking this may have a lower-warp-capable auxiliary craft that attaches to the upper rear spine or somewhere below??. An early Captain's Shuttle/High Capacity escape vehicle/Scout craft.

Just interested in peoples thoughts on this.

i have long thought the nx-o1's catamaran gap is a missed opportunity for some larger shuttles to dock, so something like that appeals to me here

you do have kind of a nice spot right there, at the end of the "spine" bit, between the nacelles maybe that end raises towards a docking port on the smaller craft?
