My New Job Dilemma

I got the job! I was given a conditional offer for a job at RadioShack, pending a background check that I know I will pass. I don't know which location I'll start in but I will be an assistant manager, otherwise known as manager-in-training, and once my training is finished and a spot opens, I will be given my own store as manager. I'm really excited, far more excited than I was about the other job and can't wait for my first day!

As a reward to myself, and since I will soon have an income again, I splurged a little and got something I've been needing for a while, a new office chair! (which was on sale for far less than the Staples site has listed) I haven't built it yet but the in store model was awesome! Thanks for all the advice and support, guys.

One of the best advices I was ever given was always take job interviews because you never know where it can lead. You might have a job now but it doesn't hurt to see what else is out there.

Glad you got the job.

kinda tied into the 'circuit city' thread, but I'm amazed that Radio Shack is still in business. As near asI can tell, they don't sell much of anything that you can't get elsewhere for about half the price. A lot of junk, overpriced items, and cell phones.

Only exception, I suppose, would be a few items for building electronics, but that part of the store seems to be getting smaller as time passes. When the business model seems to be "we're like BestBuy, but more expensive and smaller", I'm not sure how long they can stay around.

On the plus side, though, congrats on the job. Much better than trying to sell DirecTV on commission. Plus, you'll now have Store Manager on your resume, so if/when you decide to move on again, you're in way better shape, and there's more money in it for you.

Well call me crazy but if I got layed off I'd be canceling things like satellite radio and buying into DTV... at least DTV can amuse you while your at home.

You have nothing to lose trying this for a month or 2 but if it's revealed that you have a knack for sales...then the world is yours.

That steady paycheck advice is for guys that are married with children... their days of rolling dice are over.
