As to why? To repeat something I said in another thread few minutes ago:Around this time last year, the Something Awful Forums were taken over by a rash of My Little Pony discussion in multiple forums, with pony fans going so far as to buy more than a hundred "haters" pony-related avatars (on SA, you have to pay $5 to change your avatar / title, and you can change someone else's avatar / title for $10). After more than a month of it, with the threads getting very creepy, the admins gassed every MLP thread and made discussion of My Little Pony an immediately bannable offense.
I am daily tempted to enact that policy here.![]()
So it's been going on that long? Thanks Timby.
Just why MLP? Why????
So we've had a MLP thing on TBBS for about 6 months (timing?) now Man's boardgamegeek site has a pony invasion too. Rebel geeks have voted MLP 'hide and seek' game as number 5 on the list.
Obviously I find this highly amusing as do the other rebels, but 'serious' boardgamegeeks are outraged at the frivolity.
Has My Little Pony cropped up in any other sites that you visit?
I've not seen a thing. I'll let you know if I see something out of the ordinary, though.![]()
Thanks J. A.![]()
Hang on... you've not seen any?![]()
You know nothing of this brony thing and yet your avatar tells me otherwise
Sid ~ sorry if I've touched a sore point but I was just genuinely interested to see how far this had spread web-wise.
I enjoy the show, not a rabid fan, but I think it's funny, cute, and actually it's nice to have a silly little kiddie show on at the end of the week to take the edge of. You know it's fun, like Transformers or Thundercats or Star Trek...but what do I know, I didn't get he memo that said what is acceptable to enjoy in geek culture these days.
Hey, it's either ponies or cigarettes and booze. And smokes are to damn expensive and I don't drink.
