My God, it's full of THREAD BOMBS!

You know, Tharpd, you and I don't have a lot in common, we don't tend to have the same points of view in the threads where we are both present and I certainly don't get your humor…

I'm certain you have a sense of humor that would gain tremendously by being observed live

Your submissions to this thread sometimes I just don't get, but then sometimes you just make it too easy:

Well, at least you are respectful about it. That's more than I can say about at least two people who've posted in this thread multiple times.

I don't wish to go off topic for a bunch of posts, so I will say: yes, live -- people think I'm fucking hilarious. It's just a gift I guess. Random people I met once said they remembered me and how nice and funny I was, and I'm like: I just went in there to get a phone card once -- sorry, I don't remember who you are.

I think the funniest thing I said in recent memory was to a relative who told me:

"I think I'm getting alzheimers."

To which I replied sarcastically, "At least you think you do."

:p

However funny you may or may not be verbally, it apparently doesn't translate to this medium. Why do you continue? I mean, if you had something that genuinely seemed like a good idea, go ahead. But most of these are just inane nonsense.

I mean, I could photoshop a shark on a skateboard with the caption "One cool lemonade, please" and it would make more sense.

Well, some people ocassionally enjoy it, and I'm not really out to please everybody as it is. I prefer more ecclectic humor anyway; sure, I could make more likable stuff, but it's just not my style.

And speaking of thread bombs, the PETA thread has inspired me:

CROP FAIL

Seriously, dude...just stop it. Some people are just bad at things. I'm bad at playing guitar. Being funny is yours.

Here's the problem. I see "Dear PETA", alright. Then there's fried chicken, yes, the pieces are falling into place.

But BAM it's all lost in the analogy.

Keep trying, but do know when to say when.

I know you don't watch 'American Idol' and think it represents the downfall of society or some ridiculous thing like that, but what you just said when applied to singing is exactly what every terrible singer during the audition portion of the show says. Everyone they know tells them what an amazing singer they are, and so they are absolutely convinced that that must be the truth and are completely shocked when they are negatively confronted by three judges (okay, well Paula doesn't really count most of the time) who don't have any vested interest in preserving their feelings or being nice to their face.

You also seem to be a bit full of yourself in the same sense that many of the very worst singers on the show are also totally and honestly impressed by themselves and think they have a "gift." It's the gift of self-delusion, apparently. You need to spend a little more time around people who won't be "yes men," or at least listen to some of the people around here, because it's not a consensus just for the sake of being mean to you. The stuff you post is genuinely unfunny and/or nonsensical 95% of the time, and that's being generous. Hermiod will mention subjectivity, but when almost everyone here is telling you the same thing maybe there's something to it and it's not just random aholes on the internet giving you grief.

There's nothing wrong with having a unique sense of humor that appeals to yourself, but if most of your stuff appeals only to yourself what's the point of posting it for consumption by an audience? If you're posting it here presumably the goal is to make other people laugh as well, right? So perhaps you should study what gets a positive reaction here and try to emulate that style a little more instead of just always doing your own thing. I don't say this to be mean, but you really seem entrenched in doing things your way and get angry at others for having the logical and expected reaction to it.

Look, I'm not more special or different than most posters here, so please stop singling me out for off topic comments. Have something to say? Send me a PM.

Damnit! Now what am I supposed to do with this?

Fine, but I should point out that you brought the issue up and made yourself the center of attention this time, and arguably do so every other time you post as well.

ooh, can you do a monkey with a banjo pic?

I repsectufully ask to not be included in anymore thread bombs photos, even if done by someone respectful of me, like trekkiedane.

Back when we had parodies threads using users in the parodies, there were Warnings given out and told to not do that. A thread bomb is no different.

Yeah, sure, but I'm afraid I don't see that happening. -You've marketed yourself as the not funny-guy too well!

Don't feel bad about it though; it's a rare occurrence when it happens to people and is actually a kind of flattery;

  • To hoover ~ To vacuum clean.
  • To google ~ To do an internet search.
  • To tharp ~ To post an image macro that isn't funny.

Of course not. Why do that when you can start a bogus MA thread?

My advice would be to read over what Locutus of Bored wrote and try to understand what he's saying. Its probably the nicest, most direct way anyone is going to say it.

Something wasn't quite sitting right with me and it took forever for me to pin it down. It's the way the paint can still has red paint in it and the pants are reflecting red bounce light from the blue walls.
