My friend watches Torchwood but said the 1st Dalek was too slow?

Psychic bollocks. Or it's that particular state of mind that means it's able to take over...yeah, psychic bollocks. But it's a sci-fi staple and I can accept it. But the thing about CoE is it doesn't really give any explanation as to what it was getting off the kid. Now we saw the poor blighter all dozy and conscious with a tube coming off him, so you'd imagine it's a chemical or something tangible, but...well, it's bollocks mon. It was a bollocks plot with a bollocks resolution. Miracle Day was too, but it was glossier, more watchable bollocks.

Fucking bollocks.

Stop saying "bollocks." It's starting to lose meaning.

I personally don't give a shit what the aliens are getting from the children. Maybe they just taste better than adults. Maybe it has to do with hormones. I'm able to suspend my disbelief to just look past the lack of a detailed explanation.

No. I'm just saying there's different levels of bollocks. Miracle Day was at least watchable with it. Childen of Earth just had me going "Bloody fucking rubbish" and hateful, though that could have to do with me first watching it a while after broadcast, under the impression it was meant to be good.

^To be honest that sometimes happens to me. By the time I got around to watching Firefly for the first time it was several years after it aired...several years of people on the internet telling me it was the BEST SERIES EVAH! After that I was always going to be mildly dissapointed with it!

One thing I have against the whole time shift culture, is that people don't watch things at the same time anymore, makes it easier to hear lots of things about the show before you have a chance to actually see it!

That's a very good point. I happened to catch Firefly during Sci-fi's pre-serentiy marathon. I was not aware that it was supposed to be the best show ever and so I loved it and thought it was the best show ever.

It's been like that for years. Espically if you don't reside in a particular programmes home country. You can hear about it on the inernet, read it in a magazine etc.. Go back to the 80's/90's it could be years before a programme hopped the channel instead of the days it is now.

True, we didn't get TNG for several years after it aired in the US, in fact I can still remember renting Encounter at Farpoint on video!

In the UK it was something like almost 3 years to the day before TNG started to air in the Sci-Fi Slot on BBC2 18:00 (Wednesday If memory serves).

Yeah that's my recollection, it aired in the US in 87 and we got it in about 90. Not sure but suspect we might have caught up very quickly.
