My first sketch on an iPad Pro

Couple weeks ago I bought a new iPad Pro with Apple Pencil 2 and have been rekindling my love for drawing. I'm a graphic designer/video editor, but I haven't drawn in the traditional sense for quite some time. I never took to Wacom tablets very well, but the Apple Pencil is near-perfect. The first thing I drew was Spock from this season of Discovery in Procreate. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I did this in just a couple minutes. I'm still learning the ins and outs off the pencil and app, itself, but I think it came out well.

First time out? Very well done! It usually takes me weeks to begin to get comfortable with a new device.

Thank you, everybody! I'm trying to put together a larger picture with more characters. I want to make a season 2 Disco poster. I've got a new picture of Spock drawn and have just recently drawn one of Pike. It's going to take a while to figure out how I want to design it, but, when it's done, I'll post it. :D

Nice sketch! Just like you I never really warmed up to using a Wacom, but instantly fell in love with the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro. It‘s just so intuitive and natural to use. What app are you working in? I can‘t say enough nice things about Procreate. It‘s just the perfect app for the Pencil.

I'm using Proceate, too. It's just so wonderful! It's always on my mind now. I'm almost constantly thinking about the things I want to be drawing. :D

While I don't like to post works in progress, I'm working on another. I wanted to design something for season two. It's slow-going, but it's getting there.

Nice! Without the color Sonequa looks like an 80s fashion queen right there. :)

I think one of the coolest features of Procreate is that every project you create automatically gets recorded as a time lapse video. It‘s always fun to observe how a piece like your‘s comes into existence.

Haha, yes, she does! I've also found that working in layers has improved my layer organization in Photoshop a ton. I'm almost strategizing over how I want to use the layers before I start drawing something.

I'm still working on a larger piece of art for season 2 of Discovery, but, I did manage to finish Pike, so, I gave him his own full picture. I tweeted this to Anson Mount. I hope he sees it - especially since he, and the rest of the cast, retweet fan art.

Nice. Very nice.

You know, Amarillo Design Bureau (the publishers of Star Fleet Battles) is always on the look out for good artists to supply filler clip-art. You might consider popping over to their web site and sending Steve and/or Jean an e-mail.

Disclaimer: I do not work for ADB and cannot speak for them.

I can't do what you can do but at least I can appreciate it.

There are some cool stories to be told about Pike, Spock and the Enterprise after Season 2 of Discovery. You could definitely draw them.
