My Cyberman essay

Just for fun, I've written a fairly comprehensive essay about the Cybermen episodes from the original series, in an attempt to see how well (or not) the eps stand up under close scrutiny, continuity-wise. I understand that classic Who wasn't the greatest about sticking to previously established continuity, but I thought it'd be neat to see how the Cybs fare (I wasn't even about to do this with the Daleks).

I used photos of accurately-sculpted Cybermen action figures for full-body shots of each type (although they don't make a Type-III, but I was able to find a good homemade version). I started with an analysis of the Cybermen appearances in chronological order instead of production order, so that one can see exactly how things progressed over the normal span of time. Then I ended with notes about the episodes in production order. There may be times when my essay might be hard to understand because there's a lot of fudging going on (as with "Attack of the Cybermen" and "Silver Nemesis," but for the most part, I'm amazed that the episodes stand up the way they do. Feel free to comment; any errors are my own.

Uh...Wow. I read thoroughh that while I was eating a pizza and I'm quite impressed with how thorough that was. Very impressed indeed; congrats. The thought occurs to me though that it's such a thorough account of the of the Cyberman that it's a shame that you don't write even more about that -- such as detailing the episodes of the Cybus Cybermen, doing some analysis and mini-essays on the Cybermen and what they represent, and stuff like that. Because if you were to do that you'd pretty much have written the definitive Cyber Man book.

(Also, if I had the power to hand out custom titles I would grant you the custom title of "Cyber-Scholar".)

Thank you for the kind words, Newspaper Taxi! I really appreciate that you liked the work I put into the essay.

As for the Cybus Cybermen, I didn't include much of them in the essay simply because I haven't seen most of the new show (I've only gotten halfway through season 2), and what was in the essay about them was just information I found through secondary sources. So if I do include them in an update, it will be awhile.
