MW3

^^ Wouldn't matter if you got the kills from your gun. It's kills being earned from other killstreak rewards counting towards your next one that's the problem. BlOps didn't have stackable killstreaks and that was fine.

I don't know if it's the new lag compensation or if I've just started sucking, but this weekend has been terrible! I'm bouncing back today and having respectable games, but yesterday and Friday have been killers..... having a game KDR of 0.5 was about as good as it would get. I had games where I was going 0-6. :wtf:

The game's just become completely unplayable for me since the last update. Thanks for fixing lag comp IW. Whatever you've done I'm now completely capable of finding a game with anything better than a 3-bar connection.

Considering the amounts of money that they make off this game would it really kill them to have dedicated servers?

I'm sick to death of getting shot around corners or putting 20 bullets into someone to barely register a hit marker and then dying by one shot.

Bowling's denied this on Twitter, but I'm not convinced that they haven't done something with the sniper rifles. All of a sudden I'm getting a lot more hit markers with the L118A than I was. At first I thought it was due to lag, but it's not. There are instances where the only thing I've been able to see has been the head, take the shot, get a hit marker. WTF!? A head shot's a one-shot kill. Hell the L118A is a one-shot kill anywhere in the upper torso, yet apparently a headshot now yields a hit marker. Genius.

I find it hard to tell any more whether it's all down to lag or whether it's rubbish hit detection. Probably both. :(

Dedicated servers would mean whoever was [physically closest to the server node would be host-and have a golden ticket to kill. Particularly with the international spread of players on COD...
As for all the "take this out, nerf that" talk-here's a wild idea. Play the game they built and learn to excel at it within the parameters of the developers' design. I know its hard to grasp-but ANYTHING can be countered in this game. You just have to figure out what you need for specific situations. You may have to use something you don't like sometimes-but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

^But bitching about it is so much easier!

Had some moron calling me out on camping the other day.... in Outpost, I was hiding behind some barrels at the end of the tunnel taking people off as they were trying to come up behind the folks sniping out of the window on the other end. One guy kept coming at me the exact same way over and over again and I kept filling his head with lead. He started bitching about it after every death... "Fucking camper!" "Everyone, Archery_guy's a camper!" "How about you get out and start playing!" He finally got me, but that had less to do with him changing strategy and more to do with me running out of ammo and having to step out into the open for a new gun.

While I can understand complaining about some guns being overpowered(I'll admit I still have a hard-on for hating the akimbo FMG's), but it still annoys the hell out of me when people start whinning about camping. I don't even camp most of the time and I still hate listening to folks go on about it. Of all the things that folks have issues with, camping is probably the easiest one to deal with. They're not going anywhere. There are almost no good spots to single-handedly hold down without some help, so you should be able to get to a camper if you don't act like a moron and do the same thing 5 times in a row. In fact, if people in game spent less time complaining about it and more time getting after a camper, they'd probably drive the camper out that much faster.

Still can't seem to put a good string of games together. I'm really hoping that I'm just sucking and this has nothing to do with the lag comp, but the timing makes me nervous. If it's just because I'm sucking, then I should eventually get out of my funk and start playing well. If it's the new lag comp, I'm pretty well boned. After spending the last month consistantly going over 1.0 KDR in matches, I'm still struggling to break 0.5 a lot of times. I'm recording a record number of assists, but no kills and many, many deaths. I'm coming closer to moving on to my next game...

Reached 9th prestige rank 74 and decided to call it a day. Traded in this afternoon, and back to CoD4. I was slightly worried that my experience on CoD4 at the weekend might just have been luck, but tried it again this evening, and still runs smooth. After the likes of Interchange and Downturn I even welcomed back Bloc, which didn't seem half as bad as it used to!

Camping - depends on the situation. Domination for example, if your team has two of the three flags then defending them isn't camping. It's in the instruction for the game mode - 'capture and DEFEND the flags'. Camping, for me, is when you get the sneaky little twats who find the darkest little corner and sit there waiting for people to run past. Always cracks me up when you have people having a go because you weren't moving about much with the sniper rifle. Funnily enough, no, I wasn't running around with the sniper rifle. If I did then I'd be accused of QSing - can't fcuking win!

I'm done. I'm boxing my game up and sending it back to where ever I can send it for a refund. I finally got some of my mojo back tonight, and had a TDM game where I went 27-1. It was back on Outpost again, but I spent most of my time in the big hanger near the end of the tunnel. I didn't intend to stay there as long as I did, but they just kept coming and I never really had a chance to leave. I stayed put in a corner right next to the door and they kept running past me... I don't know if they expected that I would leave or what, but they never turned to look for me and I was able to keep mowing people down. Got a pair of predator missles and attack heli's, but lost both of my care packages as I could never get outside to use them.

At the rate I'm going, this may be the most impressive thing I accomplish for the enxt 50-60 years, so I might just end up quitting at life.

Uhm.. you are "rage" quitting the game because suddenly you lost your awesome powers and lose a bit for a change and it's the game's fault?

Okay.. :wtf:

it's when people camp by finding a dark corner to hide in whilst playing Domination i hate.

there's defending and there's camping and that's camping.

Assuming you're talking to me..... no. I was making a joke- I had the best game I'm ever going to have and I'm "quitting" on account of the fact that nothing will ever be as good as that game was.

Surely lag comp and poor hit detection have less to do with our awesome powers and more to do with the actual game mechanics? Losing to skill is one thing, and it's fair enough, but being shot around corners, less so....... ;)

Indeed. I get beat a lot, PRIMARILY because I have bad reflexes and poor eye/hand coordination. That probably accounts for 90%+ of my deaths. So I think that's why when I die a as a result of poor game mechanics/design choices, I find it more frustrating than the average gamer, and I'm more vocal about it on forums like this one. Even if they fixed/changed the things I bitch about, I know I still am not going to be a good player. But damn it would be nice to only have to worry about battling the other players and not some ridiculous game mechanic.

As for "rage quitting," I don't play ANY game, no matter what it is, no matter the reason, past the point where it's stopped being fun for me. I have no point to prove to myself, or anyone else for that matter.

I think I've just about reached the point where I'm done. Ever since that last patch, I've gone from consistently being over 1.0 on KDR to rarely breaking 0.5. The match I described several posts is by far the exception rather thant he rule. I'm ok with being beaten- I know for a fact that I'll never be the best, or even towards the top of the list. But when I spend entire matches getting my ass beaten mercilessly and I do nothing except die, it kinda stops being fun. Going 0-8 or 2-11 or anything like that is becoming far more common than even going 8-12.

I know the feeling but I can't really blame it on the patch. I'm just struggling more (for whatever reason) with this version of MW. I bounce between a 0.73 and 0.74 k/d ratio, and that seems to be a fair representation of my skill level. I just can't seem to get past it.

So either this game is a lot harder than previous version, or my reflexes have just degraded so much since MW2 that I just can't be competitive anymore. Either way, I'm coming to the sad realization that this may be my last MW title. :(

Picked up the PC version this weekend, 33 percent off on steam, deal is still available for a few more hours.

Only did it because a co-worker is on the PC version a lot. Feels more solid than the Blops port for PC. Hackers are not an altogether uncommon experience though. And I noticed a lot more people jump around corners, presumably because it's a maneuver that's easier to pull off with a keyboard/mouse setup compared to a gamepad. Seems more people are running Dead Silence as well. Hard to say for sure. Once I get a few more hours logged in and unlock my beloved SitRep Pro I'll have a better idea. Having done 10 prestiges on Xbox I think my PC account may just level to 80 and be done, extra custom classes be damned.

Yesterday I bought BF3 and MW3; it seems to me that BF3 is better than MW3. I was really addicted with BF3 for long time.

I bought BF3 before MW3 came out. Even with the multitude of issues that have manifested it since launch, MW3 is still the better game IMO. I really don't see the appeal of BF3.

Well they both do very different things. BF3 is the better game if you like strategy and unit-level tactics, working in a team, large maps, longer matches and a lot of stuff going on.

MW3 is better if you like fast action, squad-level tactics, small maps, shorter matches and the action is concentrated on two or three hotspots.

Neither game is better or worse, they are both very good at doing those specific things.

Where MW3 really pips BF3 to the post is in the metagame. The challenges, the addictive leveling, the targeted unlocks, even whole 'Elite' thing- it all works better in MW3. It's easier to understand, you level more quickly, you have greater customization, the metagame itself is actually FUN. In between matches in MW3 I am looking at what challenges are next and tweaking my character to meet those challenges. In BF3 there is NO inter-game activity, the 'assignments' are long and often pointless (play 2 hours on Karkand? Okay, I'll just jump out of the match every time that round ends- oh wait, you can't until the next round begins) and the leveling is basically just 'get points by whatever means'- no specific challenges outside the assignments (and there are only five of them at any one time).

I hate to say it, because I actually prefer BF3's gameplay to MW3, but I always find myself booting up MW3 because the metagame is so much better.

I think BF3 works better if you are organized, i.e. teamspeak and someone who takes charge of the team's tactics but since many players don't have that a lot of the appeal is lost to me and i rarely pick it up anymore.

MW3 works better in lone wolf mode as your personal skill matters far more but god forbid you have an organized clan in the lobby and they halfway know what they're doing.. you have no chance.

^^ I used to enjoy clan-killing on BlOps, but it's far harder this time around on MW3. Unless of course the clan you're facing is completely inept.
