Must be a Niner

Written in 1999.

And pretty much the same things are said about DS9 in this forum every day.

Neat!

Someone should hand that critic a Pulitzer prize for writing that spot-on article.

Thanks for posting that, Photon.

Generally accurate. But why praise the religious plot arc - which was honestly a mess and eventually devolved into silly video game level writing - and ignore the believable, complex political plotlines, which were handled much better?

Think he was just giving DS9 some props for just trying to do something religous in a acifi, even Trek. Seeing that TNG insulted most ppl who claim to have a modicum of religon by their constant browbeating w/the evolution card.

I think that the religious plotlines were generally better when dealt with realistically.

Basically, the struggle between whether or not science or religious dogma belongs in schools, the political manouvrings in the vedek assembly: Good.

Anything to do with the pah-wraiths and the Bajoran apocalypse: Not so good. They completely botched not just one but two great villains - Dukat and Winn - in that arc. Also it sucked.

It's a shame, not that they passed around their political material in later years to non-Bajoran arcs, but that what the Bajorans were left with wasn't any good.

Agree. The Pah Wraith mess was insidious. What happened to Gul DuPah was awful. Trek's greatest villian ended w/red eyes falling down into hell...hmmm
