music? anyone?

As for Ayreon, what an awesome body of work, the love and care that he puts into it, the way he uses the instruments, the guest singers and guest musicians, they all give 110%
Universal Migrator part 1: The Dream Sequencer, I very much love as well and the Theory of Everything also is beatifully done.
Theory of Everything is the one album I can't get on with. There is a lack of melody to the music a lack of theme, subverted by an over dependence on lyrics to do the storytelling. There is some exceptional musicianship on the album but I can't connect with the music or story. But I am aware that many Aeryonauts adore it.

I can live with not enjoying one album when I love the rest so much

Hugo - Flight of the Migrator for the win

The Theory of Everything demands full attention, that is its big plus and also its big minus, you have to listen to at least a full chapter in one go else you indeed can't connect to it, I listen only to it when I know for sure that nothing will disturb me which is rare.

Btw, you are aware that Anneke van Giersbergen has a new heavy prog/metal band?

Yup. She's a voice to follow through the genres.

I especially enjoy her music with Devin Townsend

Haven't gone into that yet, it is on my "will listen to eventually" list, at the moment it is mainly PAIN, Null Positiv, Aeverium, The Charm, The Fury, Arch Enemy and Lacuna Coil who I will see live this Friday, I hope I will be able to say hi to them, Aeverium and Cellar Darling will be opening for them.

You might like Aeverium, their female vocalist, Aeva Maurelle, is a trained soprano and the control she has over her voice is amazing, their male vocalist is awesome too, Marcel has both the harsh growls and screams and also he's got a really warm voice when he sings clean, also he's real fun and messes with the audience when they're performing live.
Here are two unplugged versions they did for Dutch Radio.

I am wearing a crown of thorns
what kind of animal are you.....
I am a Salamander .....
there is no time.

their music is "next" - as if next was a word. to describe it:

I've seen X twice.

Once at the Greek Theater in LA when I was a teenager, and once when they opened for Pearl Jam.

They rock, for sure.

I've never heard any of X's music although Exene's cousin was a HS classmate of mine.

As were 3 of the guys in 311.

this concludes the name-dropping for the evening. :p

Love this song.. they didn't play it at the concert but who knows next time. :D

Any song by Weird Al Yankovic. I listen to him daily. Also the "Funny or DIe" video Ode GiJoe always is great. I also like lots of the Andy Samburg videos. I think his group was called the "Long Island group" or something like that. I especially like "The Creep" and "Throw it on the Ground."

I also like Aime Mann's songs from "Magnolia" and Johnny Cash and the Beattles and that old song 'In the year 2525" I think it is called and "Rose" by Bette Middler. Almost any Alanis Morristte song when she was still on drugs or just getting out of drugs. I like Supertramp's songs "The Long Way Home" and "The Logical Song"

I love Air Supply and the song "Working for the Weekend' I love most of the stuff from Prince. I like "Everyone Hurts" by R.E.M and "We were only Freshmen" by Verve Pipe I believe the band was called. Also i enjoy "The ROlling Stones" and "Pink Floyd" but in particular "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Comfortably Numb."
