Much Better: Opening Credits Theme S1-S3

The S4-7 theme sucks. It's all out of time and stuff.

Huh, I thought I was the only one who preferred the slower original version. That's the case with all my non-internet friends. They all like the jazzed-up version better.

I remember first hearing the 4th Season reworking of the theme when Way of the Warrior aired...and could not believe how horrible it sounded. It just seemed so...erratic and lacking in cohesion.

I much prefer the theme from Seasons 1-3.

I like both of the themes. :)

I think they are both good and both fit what was going on on the show at the time. The Season 1-3 theme gives you the feel of a lonely, remote outpost on the edge of space, which is exactly what DS9 started out being.

The Season 4-7 theme gives you the feel of a busy space station and hub of major activity...which is exactly what DS9 ended up being.

The theme needed to change to reflect what was going on on the show. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. :p

I'm still trying to get my hands on a version of the credit sequence as they first filmed it: they used a poly styrine model which was white and plain to substitute for the actual model which was still being built, but they wanted to program all the camera moves early to save tinme. Image all that grand music and sweeping camera moves around a plain white model on a soundstage?
