I know. Someone recently said something like this on TrekBBS, and I laughed it off, but last night I actually heard an old Trek acquaintance saying it. Based solely on her confusion of the term "Mister", she referred to Saavik as "that alien who didn't seem to have a clearly defined gender". ????

Takes all kinds, I guess. Weird that some folks are oblivious as to what's directly in front of them.

It's really strange, as Saavik is clearly referred to as female during the film. The first example I can think of is McCoy's line after the Kirk/Saavik turbolift scene, "Did she change her hairstyle?" That's two confirmations of her gender in a five-word sentence. What more do you need?

I also got the feeling that she didn't realise that Kirstie Alley and Robin Curtis were playing the same character!
