I know...don't worry, you're not alone. I really am very loathesome.

    ;)

Went to Blockbuster last night, and used a coupon to rent Let the Right One In.

    I kind of liked it.

I watched it with the English dubbing, and English subtitles for the newspaper headlines. I think that, since I have it 'til Friday, I'll watch it again with the original Swedish and English subtitles.

    Addin' it to the list!

Got myself & my friends Barbara & Jeff into a free advanced screenin' of 9 tonight.

I really liked it, especially 7.

Soon as it was over, I told them I wanted to get it on DVD. They agreed it was a good movie.

Saw The Final Destination last night, thought it was easily the worst of the series and I wasn't impressed at all.

L'arméedes ombres (The Shadow Army) - 1969 French movie about French Resistance during WW2. There's little actually resisting, more not getting caught and trying to rescue those who did. Holds up well for its age.

    70's b-movies

The People that Time Forgot - Sarah "Ursa" Douglas looking fine as hell, and there's the typical cave girl hottie. The plot makes little sense (samurai cave people?), but it costars Shane Rimmer and has Frank Frazetta murals in it, so...

Slaughter's Big Rip-Off - Only saw the last half hour of this Jim Brown blaxplotation classic. I had to watch to see Ed McMahon playing a villain...in an exploitation movie! Also, Trek connection...Brock Peters is in it.

I like your list! I favor movies from the 30's to the 70's. That's mostly what I rent. Sunset Blvd. is one of my favorite movies and I personally loved The night of the hunter...LOVED IT! :techman:

Went to see Sorority Row (2009) last night. Even though I had three passes & gave the two extra to friends, I wound up on my own for the movie & for the after-party.

    Ah, well...

There were a couple of good kills, and a few extras showed boobs, but none fo the stars. And Rumor Willis looks a lot like Demi Moore used to look!

And Carrie Fisher was a bad ass in this.

I watched Crank 2 [C] yesterday. Nowhere near as engaging as the first one.

The last ten movies I watched...

    Sholay- F-ing Amazing!

J.C.V.D.- Fabulous performance from Jean Claude... I'd love it if this film rejuvenated his career.

My Name is Bruce- Exactly what I expected it to be.

Murder by Death- Funny mystery spoof... particularily if you are familiar with characters that are being spoofed (Charlie Chan, Nick and Nora Charles, Sam Spade, etc.).

Kung-Fu Hustle- Great fun. I absolutely loved Qiu Yuen as the landlady.

Sukiyaki Western Django- Loads of fun.

Inglorious Basterds- I loved this movie... though, I tend to love Tarantino.

The Mouse That Roared- Why can't modern comedies be more like this? It was smart, clever, well made, and funny.

Field of Dreams and A League of Their Own were both on TV this morning. Why can't baseball be this enchanting in real life? These films are absolute classics.

I'll post a list of the 2009 films I've seen sometime in the near future... I just ordered tickets to the Toronto International Film Festival. Later today, I'll be going to screenings of The Road and Joe Dante's new film The Hole. Very excited -- and I'll be sure to include them in my list when I post one.

Okay, it's late, so I'm not gonna post a list just yet after all, but I'll just quickly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the screenings I went to today. Viggo Mortensen was there (as was the young actor who plays his son) to introduce The Road, which is pretty much as bleak and depressing as you'd expect. Also, Joe Dante himself was on-hand to introduce The Hole (which was good fun, and about as creepy as a non-R-rated horror gets) and engage in a Q & A afterward.

I'm not sure if I'll get to any more films in this year's festival, but at any rate, I had a great time at the showings today.

Did a one-day rental from Blockbuster last night, watched the animated Green Lantern: First Flight.

It was alright, I suppose...nothin' great or anything. I may have liked it more if 1) Justice League: New Frontier hadn't had a better origin story goin' on and 2) Jon Stewart from Justice League/Justice League: Unlimited had been featured instead. That's the Green Lantern I'm used to, thanks to the cartoon series.

    Ah, well...

I'll add it to the list later.

One day rentals from Blockbuster again last night, picked up Duplicity and Defiance, as well as the last two discs for Jericho - Season One for free.

Wasn't too impressed with either movie, but the show kicked ass.

Will add 'em to the list later.
