Movies Coming...

Mistral

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I am #4 looks great.

I saw an ad about a chic trying to escape (her own mind?) and can't remember the title-but the visuals look amazing.

Battle for Los Angeles looks like popcorn fun. I'm taking the 4 yr old to this one. Seems like its on his level.

Any others I need to know about?

Not the DC/Marvel stuff-that's already slated for my child's viewing...

^ Yes, second "Sucker Punch". Have to disagree about "I Am Number Four". Looks like fluff.

"Source Code" Directed By Duncan Jones.

I Am #4 looks to me like a rehash of sci fi tropes I've seen many times before. I'm not sure that pretty boy they cast in the lead has the screen presence to carry a movie.

Source Code sounds like an interesting premise. I thought Moon was overrated but at least it wasn't the same old shit, so that's a good sign too.

The much-delayed remake of DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, based on a scary old tv-movie from the seventies, has finally been scheduled for August.

As someone who fondly remembers the original, I'm very curious about this new version.

I'm also intrigued by RISE OF THE APES . . .

Actually, this also looks too similar to other things I've read and/or seen before, but there are a lot of talented people attached to it. I guess I will reserve my judgment until some of the reviews come out.

It looks cool but kinda reminds me of quantum leap.

What could've been cool is that the guy can only use one person's body for 8 minutes, having to keep going back to a new person to try and figure things out. And the people who he lept into before do the actions that he did when he was them

Captain America looks pretty cool

March Sci-fi movies

Adjustment Bureau-Another Philip Dick adaption with Matt Damon starring in it. I'm definitely going to go see this one:

Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? Matt Damon stars in the thriller The Adjustment Bureau as a man who glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he's ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York. On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt)-a woman like none he's ever known. But just as he realizes he's falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart. David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself-the men of The Adjustment Bureau-who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path...or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her. The Adjustment Bureau is written for the screen and directed by George Nolfi (writer of Ocean's Twelve, co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum). It is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick ("Total Recall," "Minority Report" and "Blade Runner").

And for large scale action spectacles: Battle:Los Angeles:

A Marine platoon faces off against an alien invasion in Los Angeles.

So there you go, starting off the sci-fi season with a bang in less than a month.

Also of lesser interest...Mars Needs Moms

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Needs_Moms!

Take out the trash, eat your broccoli - who needs moms anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she's nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her "mom-ness" for their own young.
Milo's quest to save his mom involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader (Mindy Sterling). With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebellious Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom — in more ways than one.

Directed by HG Wells' great grandson.
