Not too bad of a delay. My feeling is that whatever happens they want this out before Spider-man No Way Home.

I am thinking they want to spread out their Marvel-related movies, so they will each be "exclusive" for a few weeks. Shang Chi opens Sep 3, with Eternals in Nov and SPiderman in Dec. October would make the most sense... in addition, they can capitalize on appropriate Halloween sales marketing to go with the movie (not an official horror movie, but definitely vibing with that theme).

Sony might have just been thinking about their own movies, until someone with some sense let them know about Marvel's other stuff.

Our local theatres haven't even been open a full month yet, but delays were going to be inevitable. The 1918 Pandemic lasted a full two years before it faded out, so we still have a ways to go before we're done dealing with it.

And MGM is now owned by Amazon, so they are Begging for a stream release of bond by them.

Finally, movie release dates are going in the right direction. i know that's selfish to say when a lot of people can't go back to theaters yet or don't feel comfortable to do so. I just want to see the industry get back on it's feet again. Good for theaters and those of us that can get out to see them. Better than the movies getting pirated.

I'm lucky to live in a country where nearly 90% of people over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated so thankfully I don't even give it a thought when I go any more.

We're not quite that high, but my province has been in the green for a month or so. I don't have to wear a mask anywhere except work (though I still carry one in my pocket in case).
