MOUNT RUSHMORE!!!

A current fad on SPORTS RADIO is to name the "Mount Rushmore" of sports figures from any certain city. For example, here in San Diego? The MOUNT RUSHMORE of san diego sports stars (and these are people who may not be from san diego, but played a sport in san diego) would be, IMO...DAN FOUTS--TONY GWYNN--Ladanian Tomlinson--Trevor Hoffman...

As you can see, only four stars (like only four presidents on the real MOUNT RUSHMORE)

If there was a STAR TREK MOUNT RUSHMORE, which Four characters (thus not producers or directors, only characters) would be on that mountain...four and four only...here is my mount rushmore for STAR TREK)

KIRK--SPOCK--PICARD--KHAN

Why Khan? I don't know. I just think his character echoed into the mind of the greater community of 'life' than McCoy or even Data....but, oh well, that is my MOUNT RUSHMORE for Star Trek...what is yours?

Rob

Kirk - Spock - McCoy - Scotty. You don't see any recent presidents on Mt. Rushmore.

It would be nice if somebody up there on your Trekkian Mt. Rushmore was some other sex than male. I realize when you immortalize U.S. presidents, as they did on the actual Mt. Rushmore, you can't have a mix of genders, at least not currently, but surely for Star Trek we can find a woman worthy to be up there. And almost anybody would be better than Khan, who was, do let's face it, not a nice person. ;)

Its easy to throw peanuts from the gallery dear kate. (wink wink) But unfortunately, IMO, none of the women of TOS are worthy. Though, please put up your own MT RUSHMORE. Will be interesting to see what you come up with. I could see mine being KIRK-SPOCK-McCOY-PIKE...but someone has to represent the villains. I'm sure some YANKEE fans have Babe Ruth on their MT RUSHMORE. A man who was known to drink heavily and womanized with the best of them.

That's not really a good analog. Except for GW and TJ, the presidents on Mt. Rushmore didn't know each other. Lincoln was born little over nine years after GW died, was a teenager when TJ died. TR was a young boy when Lincon was president.

I'd put on all the five captains. Archer didn't know Kirk. Kirk only knowingly met Picard and that was after he was supposed to have died. Sisko did meet him, but it won't be in the history books... That leaves Picard-Sisko-Janeway who would have known each other (Picard met Sisko, and Janeway talked with Picard via subspace). Using only TOS characters isn't representative of Trek. There are many Trekkies/Treekers who never have seen TOS. I'm not that familiar with TOS myself.

Finn makes a good point. You did say "Star Trek Mount Rushmore," dear Robert (although you wrote it in all caps) - not TOS Mt. Rushmore.

And Babe Ruth may have been a womanizer, but he wasn't the Yankees' enemy, and he wasn't a genocidal murderer. So the comparison with Khan really isn't all that apt.

Archer - Kirk - Garret - Picard

No, no,

Archer - Pike - Kirk - Garret

No, no

Kirk - Spock - McCoy - Scotty

That sounds cool but wait no, no. Hey sure if it's a Trek Mount Rushmore they can use holographic projections so they can change like a billboard. No need to linit myself. Phew nearly fried my brain with that one.

Limiting it to four is why it is hard to do...YOU can do it...give it a try!!!

T'POL - SEVEN - LEETA - ANDREA (from the TOS episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?")

And they wouldn't just be heads - they'd be full-body sculpts.

They might have to rename the Grand Tetons, by comparison.

Assuming the "Rushmore" is created about fifty-to-one-hundred years after Picard's era as Captain?

Archer - Kirk - Spock - Picard

Archer- The pioneer. The first.
Kirk- The trailblazer. The warrior. Earth's Greatest Hero of his era.
Spock- The Ambassador. The peacemaker. The first Vulcan in Starfleet.
Picard- The explorer. The diplomat. The first-contact with The Q and The Borg.
