Anson Mount was excellent as Pike, but Ethan Peck has to up his game if this Pike Enterprise thing is going to be a goer

Wally Pipp was, back in the day, the first baseman for the NY Yankees.

One time, he experienced a severe concussion (NOT just a headache, as the urban legend would have you believe) and was removed from the lineup. He was then replaced...

    ...by Lou Gehrig.

Maybe I'll get a Star Trek show in which decent people go about having adventures confronting issues of the day couched in allegory or metaphor, written with snappy and humane dialogue! (I know, I know, watch Orville. If it weren't for the stupid "humor" I would.

I was very pleasantly surprised with Speck; I thought they wrote him especially well.

To be honest the stupid humour is pretty minimal and I say this as someone who was initially sceptical about the orville.

The humor waxes and wanes but this season had quite a bit less humor than last season. The finale had maybe two jokes in the entire episode, neither of which were sexual in nature.

If there is a Pike’s Enterprise series, I’d want it to be just a limited series — maybe on 10 episode miniseries and done.

Or, what might be more interesting would be one six-episode series (i.e., a six-hour long movie) first, with another in a couple of years after that.

I'm from Los Angeles and I agree...Yankees suck!

I'd like to see more of Pike, Spock and Number One. Maybe do it as a series of 2 hour movies.

I see no reason why can't have a Pike show AND Discovery. Lord knows I would watch both.

It's not necessarily an either/or thing.

And most of what I know about those damn Yankees is that, apparently, you have to make a deal with the devil to beat them . . . :)

It's pretty telling that, after 2 series of Discovery, the fanbase is most energetic and excited about a Pike's Enterprise show. Except for some quibbles about Ethan Peck's portrayal of Spock, the fans have been far less critical and even outright complimentary of almost everything to do with the Enterprise and her crew as seen on Discovery. Parallel this with the almost constant flood of criticism about Discovery and its premise over the last 2 years.

In all fairness to Discovery, people often longingly look at the backup QB as a hero, until he actually has to play.

They love the nostalgia. That's why. So they won't be critical. It's their kryptonite. I used to think like them.
