Most Watched Series by Episode

But you're right about Dark Shadows. Especially considering that, unbelievably, all the episodes have been released to either VHS or DVD (presumably requiring someone to mortgage their home and build an extension to hold them all), it's quite conceivable a die hard or two is out there who has watched the lot (or remembers seeing them back in the day or in reruns). According to Wikipedia 1,225 episodes were produced.

Dark Shadows is complete on DVD now. And yes - it was crazy expensive. Surprisingly, though, it doesn't take up as much space as you might think. I stack it in a small bookcase that holds it (two sets thick and stacked to the shelf above) on one shelf. It's not a pretty way to store it...but it's reasonably space-efficient. Takes up about 2 cubic feet. ;)

They released it in sort of a funny way though, which is why you might think part of it is on VHS and part on DVD... They started the DVD release with the first episode that Barnabas Collins was in (episode 210) because he was the big draw of that show and it took the majorly supernatural turn upon his entrance. They then released through to the end of the series in chunks of about 40 episodes at a time, up to 1,225...then went back and released the early part of the show last (episode 1 - 209).

Oh...and there are some movies too.

You know, I never really put it together until today...because up until today, if you'd asked me what my most-watched actor was, I'd have said it would be a close call between Michael Dorn (TNG and DS9) and William Shatner (TOS and Boston Legal...which I also watched most of, plus a little TJ Hooker).

But actually, I think the winner is really David Selby. Quentin Collins on Dark Shadows...and Richard Channing on Falcon Crest. That's a lot of episodes of David Selby!

But since this is the general TV & Media board, there are people who I know for a fact have watched soap operas like Coronation Street, As the World Turns, the now-cancelled Guilding Light, etc. religiously for decades. Those folks trump everyone (along with those who religiously watch The Tonight Show regardless who hosts), going well into the multiple thousands.
I have a girlfriend IRL who has actually posted on this board (about BSG and LOST mainly) whose mother was a religious Guiding Light watcher before my friend was even born. My friend watched it her entire life until it went off the air. And she's about 35. I can't even imagine how many episodes of that show she saw. I used to work with her, and she recorded it every single day and watched each episode. Crazy!

I don't know if you could call her a poster here as she has maybe 30 posts, tops. But if she counts as a poster, I promise she gets this prize. A whole lifetime of Guiding Light. Unbelievable!

I am proud to admit that I have seen every single episode of Dr Who.
I remain extremely envious of this fact - well, as it pertains to the Hartnell and Troughton eras, anyway (I'm...err...not a fan of either Colin Baker or McCoy). I can only claim to have seen every extant Hartnell and Troughton ep (excluding audio versions), and every Pertwee, Tom Baker and Davison episode (several times, in most cases). There's a bit of new Who I need to catch up on, but basically Who is the hands down "winner" for me.

I've seen almost every episode (and both movies) of The X-Files, thanks to my recent re-watch of the series (can't quite bring myself to sit through "Hollywood AD" as yet, and I'd stopped watching by then back in the day). I've seen every episode of both TNG and Voyager, most several times. I've seen every episode of Babylon 5 (except Legend of the Rangers), Farscape and Lost, again several times for most episodes. Most of the other shows for which I can claim to have seen every episode (such as TOS) had much shorter runs.

Series with the most episodes watched? I suppose that would be the anime One Piece with 528 episodes and Doctor Who second with about half of the 700+ seen.

What is your aversion to Hollywood AD?

Other than Tea Leoni :barf:
Nothing in particular - it just sounds completely ridiculous (and not in a good way). I have no particular views on Ms Leoni - other than to question her taste in men (but that's neither here nor there :D).

As of today, I've seen 675 episodes of Doctor Who, so that's almost certainly the winner. It'll be 676 by this time tomorrow.

I've also seen all 137 and a bit surviving episodes of The Avengers.

Other long-running shows (100+ episodes) I've seen all of include:

The Saint
Mission: Impossible
Batman
Babylon 5
Star Trek TNG
Star Trek DS9
Star Trek Voyager
The Twilight Zone

Longer things I've watched:

Babylon 5

Condor Hero

LOL its true, I watched GL first when I was about 10 years old til I was pregnant with Julie which was when I was 27, so 17 years worth of episodes.. I also watched other soaps besides GL, Young & the Restless (still occasionally watch this one) and Bold & the Beautiful. I stopped watching soaps now because I just don't have time for them anymore.

Other shows I've seen in their entirety:

Lost
Friends
Cheers
Married with Children
Andy Griffith Show (only the black and white episodes, the color episodes suck)
Battlestar Galactica (new)
24 (except the last season)
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
The Amazing Race (give or take a season)

I'm sure there are others, just can't think of them at the moment.

Simply by virtue of the number of years it has been on, I have to assume that my most watched show is the Simpsons.

I watched the first ten years religiously. Watched much, if not most, of the ten seasons after that. I still DVR it and watch episodes sometimes (basically, I start watching when I have nothing better to do and see if a given ep catches my interests in the first ten minutes or so)

Seen every trek episode.
The Prisoner all 17 many times.
A lot of Dr Who (all the new stuff)
All: One Foot in The Grave, Blackadder, The IT Crowd, Red Dwarf
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
