But you're right about Dark Shadows. Especially considering that, unbelievably, all the episodes have been released to either VHS or DVD (presumably requiring someone to mortgage their home and build an extension to hold them all), it's quite conceivable a die hard or two is out there who has watched the lot (or remembers seeing them back in the day or in reruns). According to Wikipedia 1,225 episodes were produced.
Dark Shadows is complete on DVD now. And yes - it was crazy expensive. Surprisingly, though, it doesn't take up as much space as you might think. I stack it in a small bookcase that holds it (two sets thick and stacked to the shelf above) on one shelf. It's not a pretty way to store it...but it's reasonably space-efficient. Takes up about 2 cubic feet.

They released it in sort of a funny way though, which is why you might think part of it is on VHS and part on DVD... They started the DVD release with the first episode that Barnabas Collins was in (episode 210) because he was the big draw of that show and it took the majorly supernatural turn upon his entrance. They then released through to the end of the series in chunks of about 40 episodes at a time, up to 1,225...then went back and released the early part of the show last (episode 1 - 209).
Oh...and there are some movies too.

You know, I never really put it together until today...because up until today, if you'd asked me what my most-watched actor was, I'd have said it would be a close call between Michael Dorn (TNG and DS9) and William Shatner (TOS and Boston Legal...which I also watched most of, plus a little TJ Hooker).
But actually, I think the winner is really David Selby. Quentin Collins on Dark Shadows...and Richard Channing on Falcon Crest. That's a lot of episodes of David Selby!

I have a girlfriend IRL who has actually posted on this board (about BSG and LOST mainly) whose mother was a religious Guiding Light watcher before my friend was even born. My friend watched it her entire life until it went off the air. And she's about 35. I can't even imagine how many episodes of that show she saw. I used to work with her, and she recorded it every single day and watched each episode. Crazy! But since this is the general TV & Media board, there are people who I know for a fact have watched soap operas like Coronation Street, As the World Turns, the now-cancelled Guilding Light, etc. religiously for decades. Those folks trump everyone (along with those who religiously watch The Tonight Show regardless who hosts), going well into the multiple thousands.

I don't know if you could call her a poster here as she has maybe 30 posts, tops. But if she counts as a poster, I promise she gets this prize. A whole lifetime of Guiding Light. Unbelievable!
