Most underutilized alien race?

In TOS, the contracts with the writers allowed them to keep control over whatever they introduce. But if those creations were used again in TOS itself for whatever reason then they became property of the show. When TOS went off the air those creations remained the property of the writer, meaning even if the TOS movies or TNG used them they'd have to pay the creators' or their estates the money to do so since the original program wasn't on anymore.

Orion slave girls... they never did get the right tint of green in later episodes

Tholions

...and I think there were some really cool races in the motion picture

Hate how the klingons turned for space faring commie mongolians to tolkien-esk losers in TNG

Pakled were underutilized

But I'd would love to see more of the breen, Homeworld and without the mask/suits

kinda off topic but..

Anyone else think the Kazon are what happens IF a Klingon (was drunk enouph) to be mated with a Pakled?

I'd like to see the Sheliak more. I think they'd have worked a lot better as the "Corporate" villains in TNG than the Ferengi.

Humans. They've never been quite 'fleshed out' enough.
You kind of have a point there. Despite having a lot of Human characters, we rarely got to see their homeworld in the present, and check if all those idealized stories about their society were true...

In addition, about half of the Human characters (especially on TNG and VOY) were quite bland compared to other species.

/\ Agreed!

Additionally, I thought the Voth from Voyager were very interesting - their city ship was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in Trek.

Many of the races I chose were already mentioned (Gorn, Tholians, Nausicans, and a few others). I completely agree about not getting too much back story and a first hand look at the human race. I would've loved to see much more backstory and possibly arcs of the "boomers" from ENT. Another race that completely disappeared were the Deltans. Ilea had a major role in TMP and we never hear about the species again.
