Most famous film music

What d'you think is the music most embedded in the collective consciousness?

I propose the 3 first Star Wars scores.

There are lots of clips and riffs that are famous and are linked to their films, like Psycho and Jaws, but few films have their whole score so well-known.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you were to hum something and have it be instantly recognizable, I'd say Jaws, but in terms of the whole score, it'd have to be Star Wars.

Lawrence of Arabia?

Captain from Castile?--aka "Conquest," USC's song when they score/win, so it's been heard a lot

^ I'd say it's pretty well-known (if you whistle the theme, most people will recognize it), but I doubt many people can tell you the name of the movie it's from.

I'd also like to toss in John William's library of work from the Indiana Jones trilogy (well, KCS didn't happen in my book ;) ). I think the Raiders Theme/March is one of the most instantly recognizable pieces of film music.

Q2

It's undoubtedly John Williams' "Main Title" from Star Wars.

I agree that Williams' Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws themes are up there too - oh and probably his Superman theme as well.
