Most Destructive Weapon in Trek by Series..

2 of 10

Captain
Captain
In TOS we had the Doomsday Machine...

In TNG we had the BORG at Wolf-359, one Cube destroying 39 Federation Starships...

In DS-9 in "By Inferno's Light" the Changeling Bashir almost Destroys the Bajorian Systems Sun unsing somekind of device that could destroy a Sun...

In Voyager we had species-8472 and their planet killing energy beam/or we had Annorax and his Temporial Ship...

Never watched Enterprise enough to comment on the different weapons they encountered...

What are your most Destructive weapons/devices in each series???

You could count the trilithium missile as part of TNG since it was in the TNG series of movies. That could cause a nova.

Bashir's bomb seemed to be a similar device it had trilithium and several other components. Do you count the Pah'Wraiths as weapons? They claimed they could 'burn' the galaxy. The Prophets 'disappeared' 2,800 ships.

Voyager - The Temporal ship is the most destructive weapon since it can wipe out a species from the timeline, killing not only the people that exist now but in the past.

Enterprise - The Xindi Sphere weapon was built to destroy Earth so it was probably the most powerful weapon. If you don't count someone from the future time travelling and screwing around due to the Temporal Cold War.

Well, every show had a time travel device. Applied properly, it could always be used to erase an entire history, which IMHO counts as the ultimate weapon. Blowing up stars is peanuts if you can go and decide that the stars were never born.

Below that level, we could count things in level of severity. Let's start with things that remove all life from a planet.

ENT: Several bioweapons, the smaller Xindi beam if left to operate undisturbed
TOS: Several bioweapons, space amoeba, the phasers of Kirk's ship, Genesis
TNG: Bioweapons, metaphasically delivered bioagents, thalaron dust, the Klingon technique for burning an atmosphere in "The Chase"
DS9: Bioweapons, interstellar missiles, the phasers and torpedoes of a starship fleet
VOY: Bioweapons, interstellar missiles

Then let's count planet-busters.

ENT: The larger Xindi beam
TOS: The DDM, the cloud of TAS "One of Our Planets is Missing" (doh!), perhaps Genesis
TNG: Soliton wave; also, presumably the old Promellians and their enemies blew up planets to set up the plot of "Booby Trap"
DS9: None known?
VOY: The Species 8472 beam

Starkillers next.

ENT: None known?
TOS: None known?
TNG: Trilithium, Timicin's torps from "Half a Life", Tox Uthat
DS9: Dominion protomatter device
VOY: Q civil war

Wider destruction is generally the business of "higher" lifeforms. Let's exclude time travel from this.

ENT: Sphere Builders could turn a galaxy and perhaps a universe to their liking
TOS: Lazarus could blow up the universe by linking with an anti-universe
TNG: Soliton wave might have destroyed much more than just a planet or two
DS9: Importing a tiny proto-universe threatened ours in "Playing God"
VOY: Q hijinks only?

Anything else?

Soren's star-killing missile is one of the best - apart from wrecking entire systems the thing must have been warp capable, given how quickly it reached its target. Imagine warships carrying payloads of the things... there must be some sort of interstellar treaty against it.

Definitely. I wouldn't rule out metaphasic shielding either. To even get near the sun without the missile being vaporized long before hitting the corona.
You could argue that's why Soran had to wait until the Generations time frame to start his experiment. It wasn't until late TNG that the technology had been developed.
Oops, better not tell Beverly Crusher ;-)

Though not intended as such, Star Trek II and III made a case for how destructive the Genesis Device could be.

Heck, I love that the device was supposed to be an instrument of peace. That's some pretty clever writing there and totally makes Genesis a superweapon while keeping it in line with Federation ideals.

Anyway, not counting higher beings, the Krenim's Retcon Cannon is pretty high on the list.

The Varon-T Disruptor from TNG's "The Most Toys". Specifically designed to cause maximum pain to the victim while disintegrating.
