Most Beloved Gross, Disgusting Trek Aliens!

Defiler-Of-Redshirts

Commander
Red Shirt
Any series, any movie of course. I'll get the ball rolling.

Star Trek II - the Ceti Alpha ear-slugs, that goes without saying.
Star Trek III - those hissing, leathery serpent-things Klingon Commander Kruge fought on the Genesis planet.
Star Trek TOS "Operation Annihilate" - the buzzing, croaking, fried-egg brain parasites were heinous enough I wanted Sigourney Weaver to suddenly appear and hose them down with a flamethrower.
Star Trek TOS "The Man Trap" - The snouted salt vampire with such a sad look in its pupil-less eyes.
Star Trek TOS "Devil in the Dark" - the Horta, which I thought was so bizarrely creative you gotta give it some credit; it looked like a heaping series of pepperoni pizzas somehow blended with heaping piles of those thick-woven afghan-blankets, somehow blended with god knows what else.
Star Trek TNG "Conspiracy" - that slimy mama alien festering inside what's-his-name's half-destroyed body, which Picard and Riker were forced to blow to hell.
Star Trek VOY several episodes - species 8472 for being the most wildly gonzo-looking alien species I've seen on that series. They looked like something crazy-artist H.R. Giger may have found interesting.

No worries, I'm sure I'll think of more later.

They aren't very high-level gross, but the true alien forms of Sylvia and Korob in "Catspaw" always skeeved me out. Especially with the sound effect. There was something ... unformed ... about them that I found disturbing as a kid.

Oh, and I always looked away at the diseased teenager that attacks the landing party in Miri, screaming about their tricycle.

I know what you mean by Korob & Sylvia's true insect forms...they weren't "gross" per se, but extremely weird and unexpected.

The Ceti Eels, certainly.
And anymore the brain parasites remind me of prank vomit from Spencer's Gifts.

As for my addition to the list, how about the brains from Gamesters of Triskelion? And for that matter, what is a quatloo?

I'm sure a quatloo is less than half a US dollar, the exchange rate is drastically in our favor.

I just remember another: VOY's "Jetrel" when he beams that pulsing, slimy, living mass of organic matter into that container in sickbay. It was gross knowing it was made from the particles of countless vaporized dead people; cleaning the chimney of a crematorium would probably yield a similar morbid gross-out.

Mick Fleetwood

Many people, Lindsay Buckingham excepted, are not aware that the Mick Fleetwood's sole appearance on TNG was entirely without makeup, and the image on the right is a carefully constructed prosthesis job gracefully aged over the years to hide his covert decades long mission to permeate Earth with Antedian Soft Rock.

I remember that TNG fish-like species in the left picture, who put themselves in a self-induced stasis on the Enterprise (I can't quite remember the ep. title). They looked like they spend a lot of their lives in the water. If I were a sci-fi pain-in-the-ass like Wesley Crusher (which I'm grateful I certainly am not), that's what I would have asked Picard & Riker about their life conditions, instead of just saying "they look weird." The best part: Worf was at the transporter controls and whispered to himself, "such a handsome species."

Even though they're not actually shown on screen, that would be the Medusans ... so hideously ugly you go insane only by looking at them :)

That was the conceit at the time. But by modern standards, it's clear the lightshow the Medusans produce has some kind of hypnotic or post-hypnotic effect on most other species, one that damages their ability to cope with or comprehend the accepted reality. They could just as easily be described as so ethereally beautiful that most minds are unable to cope.

The Lonely Among Us aliens.

Where learning that they murdered and planned to eat each other was considered a comical note to end on.

For me, have to go with Armus.

Not only was he an lumpy, evil, black goo pile on a sand planet, he took out Troi and Ensign redshirts shuttlecraft, neck snapped Lt. Yar in the first half of the episode "because he wanted to", and regurgitated Riker. All in the same episode.

The black ink toner and God-knows-what-else concoction they used to simulate Armus was described behind the scenes on some of the blurays/DVDs as "nasty" for lack of a better term.

I loved Data's mellow, matter-of-fact statement to Armus: "Fascinating. You are a lifeform with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Logically, I believe you should be destroyed."
