Most advanced Race in DQ...

In Voy "Blink of an Eye" in just a couple of days the civilation went from using rocks as tools, they may have been just entering the stage of development of working with metals. And in just two of our days they had evolved to the point of space travel, and temporal devices. At that rate of technological advancement, where would they be a couple of week or better yet a couple of years, something to ponder, any thoughts???

I believe Voyager must have somehow been part of the phenomenon, a third "pole" or something that caused time to pass at that rate on the planet only while they were in orbit (or it would have been just too coincidental that Voyager orbited the planet just exactly during the brief time it would have taken them to pass through those stages familiar to us). Thus, I figure that once Voyager escaped orbit, the phenomenon abated, an idea I feel is supported by the final shot of the episode.

But if the phenomenon continued, where would they be in a few years? Wow, well, the chance remained that the core could have been unstable, or that they could have destroyed themselves through environmental abuse or a war or something. But if that didn't happen, heck, they would have been on the fast track to ending up similar to the Organians or the Q. If they wanted to explore the universe along the way, though, maybe they'd have wanted to use their advanced capabilities to match the passage of time to the outside universe themselves; otherwise, they could probably only "explore" by bringing others to see them, like the Cytherians did (but even less convenient for those brought).

I'd say it was another missed opporunity to get home. They could have asked that guy to have their scientists find a fast way home for Voyager. They could just wait just further out. After a few weeks, they would have technology Humanity wouldn't have for millenia.

I calculated that when a year passes for us, over 5 million years would have passed on that planet. So after a week, over 99 thousand years would have passed.

hmmm, Dairy Queen. :)

That idea of that planet is pretty cool, but kind of scary too. Yeah, by the time Voyager got home, that species could have taken over the galaxy, if they ever found a way to adapt to the new time thing.

But the implications are kind of scary to me...

No. Like I mentioned earlier, Millennia would pass on that planet while a mere week would pass for us. The Borg would only have a chance if they found the planet at the same time as Voyager. A week after Voyager left, they would be so advanced it would be like a guy in a wooden canoe with a bow going up against the newest class of submarine in the US Navy.

This begs the question, What happened to those people? It has been nine years since the episode first aired. So it has been about 777,600 years on that planet.

I thought it would have been those dinosaur people, they seemed to have it together...

I was about to suggest the Voth myself.
:D

They seem to be one of the most advanced civilizations in the DQ that reached their tech level in standard time.
But in all likelihood, the 'Blink of the Eye' planet's population would evolve drastically and eventually surpass everyone else in just about every technological area.

Just think of it ... if that planet ever joins the Federation, think of the advantages in analyzing and coming up with new techs/vaccines/weapons.
That planet would be able of churning out fleet of ships per day.
Think Star Trek: Armada construction speed and double it.

The way I see it, they would have eventually developed the technology to either slow time down for themselves or leave their homeworld and move their entire population to colonies.
