Yeah, I've got to believe that was DS9's eyewink, especially since the Cardassian beverage was mentioned in the same scene.

I confess I don't feel much of a desire to rate them versus each other. It was an amusing running gag on DS9, and since he didn't speak in the movie either I guess we could say the gag still has the runs... or... something

Morn was in it?
He refering to this unnamed barfly character:

I can't help but wonder if they wanted to use Morn, but it was yet another one of those Writer's Guild things, where they would have to pay the writers who created the character (which would be tricky with Morn anyway - would it be the first episode he was referenced by name?) One of my little pet peeves, and this is coming from a writer.

I thought he looked like George Bush, at least the more monkey-like features.
I said on another thread a month or so ago (probably in response to you saying he looked like G.W. Bush) that he looks like the love child of George Bush and Ron 'Hellboy' Perlman.

They should've just used the Morn makeup.
I think we should start a movement called "Bring Back Shepherd" (i.e. Mark Allen Shepherd -- the actor who originated the role of Morn).

I'll register the domain name bringbackshepherd.com

...having said that, I thought "nuMorn" was a hoot!

Personally I think the Morn that we've come to know and love from DS9 is way better.
He's certainly had a lot more screen time and more development.

I think I'll go with "too little basis for making a fair comparison" at this point, but Long Face Bar Alien did pretty well for the tiny glimpse we got of him. If he comes back for the next movie, Morn may have to watch out.

Well we know they have long lifespans, since in the alternate future DS9 Quark's became Morn's, maybe he was also around in the 23rd Century as well.

Oh wow was that really morn? How cool!!
I don't think it was supposed to be Morn per se, but it was definitely a "nod" to Morn -- the fact that they are both big brown/gray alien barflies who don't talk has to be more than just a coincidence.

I liked Morn -- and as M'Sharak had said, Morn definitely had more of a chance to develop his character...

...however, the little screen time this "nuMorn" had was certainly well-spent screen time. I thought his scene was very enjoyable.
