more unnoticed things

They probably didn't want the inadvertant humor of his falling on his ass to make the episode get off to a bad start.

Well, they could have done it without it being too slap-sticky. That scene does have a degree of levity to it anyway (i.e., Christopher looking totally confused while Kirk smiles smugly).
Although he does beam aboard with his back to the transporter control console. The only other times I can remember that happening are in Enemy Within (which I guess was done to convey the whole alter-ego concept), and Day of the Dove (when the Klingons are beamed aboard).

We've seen that more than once. I used to wonder if the transporter had an automatic "convert to standing position" feature.
It better! I remember guffawing at TNG's "Yesterday's Enterprise" when Crusher has the injured and seated Capt. of the Enterprise-C beamed directly to sickbay. Or maybe the rotated her 90 degrees onto her back.

It's the same tech that allows Captain Terrell to beam down in TWOK and materialise posing on a rock

Unless they were using the "Captain Morgan" setting.

"Someone say my name?"

I noticed that every time the Enterprise shoots at another ship, the torpedoes/phasers look different and shoot from a different place each time. It bothers the hell out of me when a phaser beam shoots from the torpedo launcher or the other way around, when a torpedo shoots out of the the Bridge is supposed to be.
