More than a normal person...

A christian hymn? Whatever for? The man wasn't a christian. Would you play Amazing Grace at the funeral of a muslim soldier just because it it was a default funeral song?

Yes, I already answered that: the funeral was Starfleet, not Vulcan.

Starfleet is not a christian organization and Starfleet is so far from whatever kneejerk christianity the current US military uses as tradition that this makes no sense at all.

And I really don't think any military that traditionally uses Amazing Grace for burials would be using it when burying a muslim. People are not that tacky and insensitive.

Really, I can't believe people take issue with the choice of the eulogy music. Maybe Scotty chose it. Who cares if it's Christian or Muslim or secular or Vulcan ?

We're so used to being human and christian culture centric it's easy to miss it, but it is an embarrassing inclusion.

And Belz I see you haven't bothered answering my comment about playing christian hymns at the funerals of muslims in the military.

Someone just did not think this through very well. Apparently it was Doohan's suggestion, though he didn't actually play it according to another source.
