More Star Wars films announced

It's kind of meaningless to anybody except me, but I've had the gut feeling that the title will be something along the lines of The New Republic.

We've had both the Sith and the Jedi (opposing forces and philosophies) in titles, two that are somewhat vague at first glance but represent negative and positive (Phantom, Hope) and - of course - Empire. The opposite of the Empire in goals and philosophy is, of course, the Republic, whether old or new.

I know, I know. That leaves Clones. There's always one loner that stands out from the rest. :p

You're forgetting one little thing. The movie might not even be coming out in 2015.

Count on it. I'm thinking 2017 is more likely. JJ likes to take his time, Hollywood in general doesn't seem to care for deadlines.

"Those Joe Six Pack idiots will wait. They have no choice. Mwah hah hah!"

Normally I'd argue "Better to wait for a good film than rush a poor one." But Star Wars has a funny habit of disproving the time = quality correlation.

Yeah, I like the movie (sue me) but Episode I getting the fan and critical reactions it did after the 16-year wait since Jedi definitely doesn't help the "more time elapsed means superior product" argument.

You're probably more right than wrong. They follow a certain, yet vague, pattern.

The Phantom Menace = A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back = Attack of the Clones
Return of the Jedi = Revenge of the Sith

I remember some discussion around the original title of Return of the Jedi, and whether it should have been titled Revenge of the Jedi. The middle two movies share a theme of "striking back".

No, that's the third Trek film Abrams is making.

The Enterprise has to battle blinding light rays that prevent starship crews from pressing the right buttons, resulting in numerous self-destructs and emptying of waste storage tanks into planetary atmospheres.

And the crew are unable to discern lens flares from enemies beaming into the ship. It becomes harrowing.

We should be able to pump those titles into a 'supercomputer' that will deduce the next three Star Wars film names!
A hulk of a machine that takes the entire floor of an office building and there are spinning wheels of analog tape.

A machine with one weak spot? An exhaust port, perhaps?

Nah....that'd be impossible, even for another computer.

"so, you want the big climax to be a scene where the cute young hero shoots his torpedo up an exhaust pipe until it explodes? What rating is this movie again?"

It was likely the first time Luke had ever gotten laid.

You saw Tatooine. And Camie was already engaged to Fixer.

So then the next one should be appropriately titled The New Flare.

Rise of the Lens Flare.

Calm down and have a little faith. Episode VII will be awesome. I'm pretty sure of it.

After all, Disney owned Miramax at the time that Pulp Fiction was produced and released....and that movie is one of the best (not to mention most graphic and violent) films of the last 20 years. Disney's not going to dumb down, childproof and ruin the Star Wars universe any more than they ruined the Avengers or the Pixar films.

That would be because they had the Weinstein Bros doing the company.

I don't trust Disney proper to tie their shoe laces after Prince of Persia and John Carter.
