Six Quantum Torpedoes (max yield) to destroy a single Jem fighter from the Valiant's guns.

Our heroes on the Defiant took down a Breen Battle Ship w/2.

Did the Defiant get higher yield warheads?
Could these kids just not as good in battle as our heroes?
Plot hole?

The kids were clueless. That was the whole point of that episode Valiant. They thought they were smart...and they were cocky as hell. But they were in fact clueless kids that got themselves killed....and destroyed valuable Federation property in the process.

Frankly, I mourn more for the valuable Federation property than for the clueless cocky kids. :p

^ If I recall in the companion they say that the Valiant's weapon systems were damaged so that may have played a part. However, in The Siege of AR-558, it takes the Defiant the same number to destroy a Jem'Hadar Fighter (stock footage).

Is the single Jem'Hadar fighter referred to in the first post the big super one or a regular one? I hated the episode and blocked most of it out. ;)

^ Attack ship, near the start of the episode.

Didn't it take 4 quantum torpedoes to disable the Breen ship in Changing Face? In that case it it seemed to break a connection in the middle of the ship and the bulk of the vessel survives, whereas the Jem'Hadar vessel is totally destroyed.

You might be right. It was the first Defiant's last kill.

That may have been one of the cheaper model Breen ships; they started outsourcing their hulls to Mexico, in order to save money to develop the next year's snazzy new helmets.

^ LOL

But did you happen to note *wear* the ships were hit? In a vulnerable spot, with weak shields near it, 1 or 2 torpedoes would be enough, but as the places are less vital, and the shields are stronger...

The beginning of "Changing Face of Evil" mentioned a significant # of the Breen ships that attakced Earth were destroyed. Maybe defensive shields is not one of the Breen's strong suits, but they make up for that with their weapons.
