More Cast and Characters added to Discovery!

What I'm talking about is someone with cachet. Not necessarily I huge name star but somebody up and coming, hot or trendy. I think that's what catches people's attention and the sort of thing they need on the show.

Think of how JJ managed to hire so many actors for the Kelvin timeline who were up and coming. Look at them now. Bakula was well known but not exactly in demand at the time.

I'm not sure name-recognition value counts all that much. Heck, Scott Bakula was much better known to the general public than Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, or Kate Mulgrew . . . but that didn't help ENTERPRISE.
