more blasphemy! A-Team remake in the works!

this thread makes me wonder what happened to all that talk of a Baywatch movie

I could see theCW doing a Baywatch: TNG series

a new baywatch series should not be that hard, its basically just a group of 6 newly qualifed life guards going to work on an LA beach, bring back one or two of the original cast, to own a cafe, and pass on advice to young life guards, how could it go wrong?

as for the 6 life guards:

Cassie: LA native has dreamt of becoming a life guard all her life, ever since saw a TV series about them. ;) Is in love with Justin.

Justin: another LA native, went to school with Cassie and then followed her into life guard training, after he wasn't successful at the Police Academy (possible spin-off) is totally unaware that Cassie is in love with him, and dreams of solving crime.

Jessica: a super sexy Aussie, moved to LA to escape her troubled past, has she moved far enough?

Mark: a massive Dodgers fan, is following in his fathers footsteps becoming a life guard, but really all he wants is a good woman and a chance to write his book.

Jeff: the head life guard, thinks he is a Gibbs from NCIS, and often slaps his new recruits around the back of there heads, in truth he has a troubled home life & suspects his wife is cheating on him. (she is) Loves power boats.

Effy: a New Yorker moved to LA when she left high school, in the hopes of becoming famous, when that didnt happen she fell back on her swim training (fastest swimmer in NY) but still dreams of becoming a star, is dating a former reality TV star.

I spent 10 minutes thinking about this, how can it fail?

Re Drone's casting suggestion, I actually could see Dwayne Johnson as BA. I suspect the original post was made in jest, but I think the artist formerly known as The Rock has the right mix of brawn and attitude to make the role his own. As I said before, BA's sassiness was as defining as his muscles and jewellery. I think it's impossible to find someone exactly like Mr T or even do a plausible impression of him. So why not make him a half-black/ half-Hawiiaan guy with an arched eyebrow instead of a Mohican? Johnson is convincing as a tough guy but also has that 'big teddy bear underneath it all' vibe that Mr T had too.
I could see Johnson in the role as well. I think he'd be good.

Thanks. ;) I was being half-facetious when I made that post (assuming they were going to make a comedy version of the team). But when you think about it, the role of B. A. Barracus on the original show was overshadowed by Mr. T as an actor, not the character. When I looked at B. A., I saw Mr. T., an big Afro-American guy with a mohawk haircut and lots of jewelry. Heck, I remember watching a Mr. T. cartoon series when I was a kid. Dwayne Johnson could reinvent that role (not just that of a big Afro-American guy) in his own way, injecting his own blend humor and bad-ass attitude.

I agree, the Rock is a worthy successor to Mr. T.

Or, if Rock is unavailable: Robert Downey Jr. in his "Tropic Thunder" mode.

It's being reported that Liam Neeson is in talks to play Hannibal and Bradley Cooper is in talks to play Face.

Since his "rising star" status has come and pass it won't happen, but I thought Josh Lucas could've been good as Face.

Yes, I saw that yesterday.

It makes this long-suffering A-Team fan want to cry.

Still Liam is pretty good in everything he does. But no one can be Face for me, except Dirk :adore: Benedict.

When--and if--this movie ever comes out, I'll finally become one of those people who starts a "They Wrecked My Childhood" threads. :sigh:

Shouldn't an A-Team remake have comedic actors in the roles? There's no way that Hollywood tries to make this into a real drama if it actually gets made.

Liam Neeson is in talks to play Hannibal

Interesting...

I still think Mel Gibson would be perfect for the role, but Neeson would certainly do alright as well.

I reckon Gibson is about the best casting you could get short of ressurecting Peppard! Neeson is a good actor, but he doesn't have the cool that Peppard had. Seriously can you imagine Neeson on 'the jazz'? or saying 'I love it when a plan comes togeather'?

The Rock as BA is a great idea, he's big, tough, has a definite "look" I love the idea of messing with the accepted original. Personally I'd make Face a slick black guy and have a white guy playing the muscle. It is the 21st century after all.

Murdock would be the trickiest to cast, you probably need a real ac-tor to play him. Not Will Ferrell!

Yeah I heard Neeson was in talks to play Hannibal, and that guy from The Hangover and Yes Man is in talks to play Face.

On another note, and I can't believe I'm going to suggest this, but maybe Ice Cube could play BA. I watched xXx2 a few weeks back and I remember commenting on how much he reminds me of Mr. T.

"I love it when my certain set of skills brings balance to the force."

A real actor? John Malkovich as Murdock! :)

Ice Cube was part of the original talk for B.A. back when it was in John Singleton's hands. How about Terry Crews? And Tyrese Gibson would be a much better choice than the likely suspects -- Common, 50 Cent, Xzibit, etc.
