more blasphemy! A-Team remake in the works!

Wow, look at that. We're now recycling early 90's reports of an A-Team movie.

Again.

I remember TV Guide saying producers of the movie back then were looking at Dennis Rodman to play BA.

And people think the casting rumours for the movie now are bad!!

I think Josh Holloway would be an ideal Face. Mel, Bruce or George could be Hannibal. Jim Carrey or Jack Black could be Murdock. There was some suggestion of Woody Harrelson as him some time ago - it's actually not as bad an idea as it initially sounds. He looks a bit like Dwight Schultz and played a character a bit like a sinister version of him in Wag The Dog.

Casting BA is going to be a bitch though. It's a cliche, but only Mr T could be him. If you get some hunky black guy with zero body fat (as he was described in one recent version of the script) , he loses the attitude and sass that made him unique. The nearest actor I can envisage is Michael Clarke Duncan, but he's not sassy enough. Ice Cube maybe, but he'd need to get in serious shape.

^^^
It's recycled.

This is what I read hundreds of times in the 90's, with the "updating" and "It's gonna happen!". How many creative teams have begun the movie already? 8? 9?

The only difference is the names involved. You are correct. They are all new. Except for the names, this can be a word for word recycled "news" item.

Add to that Joe Carnahan is attached to direct. He either quit (Mission Impossible 3) or had too many scheduling conflicts (White Jazz, Bunny Lake is Missing) for his last bunch of movies... yup.

We'll be reading this article again in 4 years. Just with new names attached.

If Katee Sackhoff can play Face (and I know why the poster made this joke :)), then Queen Latifah should play B. A., Katy Perry should play Murdock, and Betty White should play Hannibal.

Strange as it may sound, aside from Betty White... I don't hate this idea...

How about Macaulay Culkin as the Faceman? Culkin weighs less than 142 lbs, kinda looks like an emasculated Katee Sackhoff and he's a better actor :bolian:

I doubt that nobody will die in this because the characters are miraculously managing to shoot around each other all the time. ;)

In this era of angst and family dysfunction on TV, the new A Team will all be shot seven times each in every episode, and come from broken homes with the appropriate baggage, be divorced, have iliegitimate children, be recovering drunks, drug addicts, etc, etc.

Hannibal Smith - William Shatner
Templeton "Face" Peck - Luke Wilson
B. A. Barracus - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Murdock - Ben Stiller

I had the idea of bringing Mr. T back as B.A. The original A-Team is presumed dead, B.A. goes into hiding. A new group of soldiers is brought up on false charges while serving in Iraq. They learn of The A-Team, and take on the name as new freedom fighters. The new team is hired by a mysterious client, turns out to be B.A. B.A. wants to learn of the people responsible for his teams demise. The new A-Team discoveres a shocking revelation: the first major villain for the team is none other that Face Man himself.

Re Drone's casting suggestion, I actually could see Dwayne Johnson as BA. I suspect the original post was made in jest, but I think the artist formerly known as The Rock has the right mix of brawn and attitude to make the role his own. As I said before, BA's sassiness was as defining as his muscles and jewellery. I think it's impossible to find someone exactly like Mr T or even do a plausible impression of him. So why not make him a half-black/ half-Hawiiaan guy with an arched eyebrow instead of a Mohican? Johnson is convincing as a tough guy but also has that 'big teddy bear underneath it all' vibe that Mr T had too.

I could see Johnson in the role as well. I think he'd be good.

i agree.

finding a new Murdock who's convincing in both the 'howling mad' and 'is an ex-badass Special Forces guy' departments is going to be harder.
