What do you guys think? Is this on the level?

That entire genre by Emmerich is a category in its own - i guess when they look for a new movie they skim Wikipedia and Google, look for potential natural disasters waiting to happen and then twist it into a movie.

This is just a completely new dimension of disregarding physics and logic and of course i'm going to see it - hoping it is as bad as to become good again

I tried to think of some far-out scenarios for the planet like what if it stopped raining, or what if it never stopped snowing, but I'm not sure how Emmerich would be able to add explosions and chases to that.

;) You're obviously not trying hard enough.

Personally, I'm all in.

I know SevenEves was supposed to be made into a film. The book was a serious take on this admittedly silly premise. I wonder now if the movie will ever get made. Too many comparisons will be drawn.

I really don't know about this one. On the one hand, it looks like a fun if dumb movie. On the other, Emmerich has a problem of not knowing when to end movies and has something like three climaxes before the movie finally ends.

Its an Emmerich disaster movie. Its self aware disaster porn, with maybe a few subtle messages in there, like the scene showing Americans crossing into Mexico illegally in Day After Tomorrow.

I enjoy most of Emmerich's movies, they're just big dumb fun, and even my mom likes the trailers, so we'll probably be going to see this.

I'm looking forward to this, but I'm also a fan of turn-your-brain-off disaster movies like Independence Day, ID4 Resurgence, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Geostorm, Deep Impact and Greenland. It looks like it has a good cast, so I'll definitely be watching :)

I did like a smartass description someone I know in real life gave this movie. "The moon falls to Earth and probably kills Chewbacca."
