I think what Nemsis needed most (I realize that statement may bring a wave of other comments of what it needed) was a bigger more exciting space battle. Something similar to what we saw in the begining of First Contact or even in the Wrath of Khan. The stories are great and the character development is nice and all...but come on now..lets have some awesome space scene battles that last for more than a few minutes and that have some real thought put into them.

Oh man, try all 4 seasons of ENT. And a bunch of Phlox/Billingsley collectibles (thank goodness there aren't a tone of those cuz I'd be broke by now) AND Phlox's "undergarments" from Bounty, yes, folks, the real deal, complete with the Enterprise tag and John Billingsley name on the labels. So I now own an 'official' piece of Trek history. Would rather have had one of the Tunic/pants sets but ya know what, I'm happy with this acquisition.

That might help you a bit

Movie tickets for Nemesis, The Voyage Home, and The Final Frontier.

I walked out of TVH and TFF embarassed, and Nemesis just made me wonder why I had bothered!

I also bought a very, very high quality TOS communicator replica years ago for $60 when that was all the money I had in the world. Still have it, though!

Spent 20 years spending money on Trek in one form or another. I stopped con-going and collecting about 5 years ago, since then I've bought a brand new sports coupe and been on two kick ass foreign holidays with all the money I didn't spend on Trek. It's been a good five years, but then again, it was a good 20 years, too! :D

The only thing I have bought ST related that I thought was a total waste was trading cards. From some reason I had a 6 month period where I was obsessed. I figure I spent about $400 on them, and have not looked at them in years. I even forked out $75 for a box of Insurrection movie cards. I didn't even like the movie that much.

I do regret selling a bunch of my ST book back in 1997. At the time I needed the money and to get rid of stuff for college. I now find myself re-buying all those books I sold. Still I don't think it is a total waste as I really enjoy reading the books. The cards bring me no joy at all.

To be truthful, I'd have to say "all" the money I've spent on Trek over the last three decades- which could have gone to something more useful or practical. There's only about 1/4 of it now that I would rank as still 'highly prized'.

However, there is one recent purchase that comes to mind and that would be this HUMONGOUS banner of Janeway. Spent the bucks on it, it's even autographed... but I'd need two theatre marquees to ever display it!!

Sigh.

I have to say, though, I really don't "regret" any of the Trek related memorobilia purchases, even though some (my four or five best pieces) have been quite pricey. Sometimes I will look at or hold something and think, "Man, this was a lot of money!" but when I think about selling some of it off I never do. I like them too much to get rid of them. Plus, each piece reminds me of the time in my life when I bought it.

What a great question! When I was in high school I would take the money my parents would give me for lunch and use it to buy the Trek Playmates action figures off of eBay. I had to have them delivered to my friends house because my Mom would always give me a hard time about buying them. I don't regret purchasing any of them, but I do sometimes wish I had waited as the prices have really fallen in recent years. I guess I made up for it when I spent $10 on one of those Franklin Mint art prints with all of the original series actor's signatures on it at a flea market :)

Agreed. It's why I haven't parted with any of it.

The only Star Trek items I've bought (other than the TNG movies minus Nemesis) were a novel (Immortal Coil) and the "Ships of the Line" calendar for next year. I plan on buying rank pips and a combadge online for use with the costume I plan on making for Halloween, though.

I recieved all seven seasons of TNG for my birthday, so since I didn't personally buy them they don't count. However, I DID buy seasons 4 and 5 before then with plans to buy them all eventually. All I asked for on my birthday was seasons 2 and 3 but when dad went online to look for them he decided to buy me the whole series. He called me over to his computer and said "How would you like all seven seasons?" and I'm like "That would be freakin awesome but I already own 4 and 5." So he said "You can just leave those here when you go back to school." Then he finished ordering it and said "There. Happy birthday."

Wow seeing what some people have dropped on Star Trek Stuff I don’t feel too bad anymore. For me, I bought all the ridiculously expensive DVD sets as they came out, so that has to be around $2500 on DVDs. I paid 200 buck for a mint in box Playmates Enterprise-B, then opened it and played with it. I also had a bunch of Franklin Mint stuff and Hamilton Collection Plates. I paid 40 bucks at a convention to get my picture taken with William Shatner. I am now in the process of trying to sell a lot of my stuff, I just don’t see the need for it anymore and it takes up a lot of space, plus I found out two weeks ago that I am going to be a dad, so the money I get selling off some of this stuff won’t hurt either.
