Monday Box Office - Trek #6 - $0.9 million

Transformers is expected to do 160-175 million in its first 5 days. That's huge. Even if it gets bad word of mouth it would still make at least 300 million, otherwise maybe 400 million.

That is soooooooo sad. The first one was AWFUL. Oh well, still just going to celebrate while Trek is on top.

You think? I liked it. Or maybe it was just Shia. Oh well.

I love Shia La Beouf. Sorry.

I love him and that's that. He's not that little, we're about the same height.

And if people can love Hugh Jackman (ewwwww, shudder), I can love him.

Not to be defensive or anything. :D

Goin' to bed now. We'll continue this tomorrow.

:p

I wish the theaters around here would have morning movies Monday through Thursday. I would definitely go to see again (and again) it if it played at 11 a.m. as it does on weekends.

Thanks. I went all fan-girlish when I found out he was in "I Robot" the other day, along with Bruce Greenwood (and whatshisname Chief Tyrol who did a cameo).

Still going to bed now. Right after changing my avatar.

That boy's got a really low voice.

Good hold. I was thinking somewhere just over $3M for the Mon-Thurs total this week. It will probably do better than that with a Monday total that close to $1M.

Up will pass Star Trek.

I wouldn't count on this happening...the box office patterns for UP and Trek have been close to identical...Trek may very well come out ahead.

"Final tally looks to be 245 million... can't see how it'll go past 250 given the upcoming Transformers. It has these two weeks/weekends and that's pretty much it."

Respectfully, I disagree...true the next two weeks/weekends will likely be the last big "sprint" for Trek but it will stay in many theatres well into July once kids are out of school for the summer...it will continue to do business (a few million a week) through July...which will push it past 250 million.

If it does .9M each day through Thursday then the weekday tally would be $3.6M. Comingsoon.net is predicting a $5.8M weekend. If that holds true than the domestic total by next Monday could be around $232.1M.

It's better to compare it to other Pixar films of which it's outpacing everything except Finding Nemo. It's only off Finding Nemo's pace by $7 million, and Monday's number was better than FN on the corresponding day, with a better hold. FN made $340 million. UP is easily going to clear $250 and most likely $275 million.

Looks like a final domestic tally of a quarter-billion. Impressive to say the least, considering that the last movie made barely $40 million before it was yanked violently from the theaters.:techman:

I went to see Star Trek on Monday. All I can say about Hangover's hefty Monday is that the people who went to see it must not have had one.

You mean there are schools that let out in July?!?

Listen, I'm more than ready to be shown wrong in this case, believe me. I just don't know what the threshold for theaters and Paramount will be in terms of how much money per screen made at that point...

And as far as UP goes, not that he's ever wrong, but I'm inclined to go with MvRojo's informed speculations on the matter, although again, I'd be happy if he were proven wrong... :)

Star Trek is going to make....

[Austin Powers]A QUARTER BILLION DOLLARS ![/Austin Powers]

**pinky to side of mouth**

I'm eagerly waiting for eddie to start his caption threads as soon as the DVDs hit the market

-I think 240-245 is the final, 250 might be asking too much.

-Harry Potter is not a kids movie. You can make a case that books/movies 1 and 2 are, but 3-7 are most certainly not.

-I liked Transformers, but only because I am able to separate my love for the Original Transformers from the movie.

- Up will clear 300 Mil. Comparing it to ST is silly.
