Moments that Made You Emotional

Well, then you should be angry because it did happen.

No, it didn't.

You're referring to "For the Uniform", aren't you? Sisko ordered Worf to fire on a Maquis encampment. The Maquis were not civilians - they were an armed group of terrorists. By definition, then, there could not have been children at that camp.

Even so, there's no proof that ANY lives were lost. The Maquis and Cardassians just switched camps, as it were. And Sisko gave plenty of warning.

I disagree. These were families (a family typically includes children) and there are no excuses to bombard children, no matter how many "warnings" you give them.
As for the question of whether there were casualties, it's irrelevant. If you shoot your gun in the general direction of children, you are a criminal, whether some are actually hit or not.

Untrue. Sisko attacked a "Maquis colony". That phrase has a very specific meaning.

Remember, not every colonist in the DMZ was a member of the Maquis. That word is reserved for a particular GROUP of colonists, those who took up arms and fought. So a Maquis colony would, therefore, be solely comprised of adults who were engaged in armed, terrorist operations. Which makes them legitimate targets.

And need I remind you that at the beginning of that episode, Eddington was attacking colonies with biogenic weapons? That's far worse than anything Sisko has ever done.

A colony is something that grows. That means the making of babies among other things.

Plus if you watch the very beginning of that episode you can see children among the colonists. I don't know where you get that idea that they would have colonies without children... Seriously!

I have never heard of a colony without children! That makes no sense.

We've had plenty of colonies in our Earth history. These colonies all had families in them, IE children!

You're redefining a word here.

A Maquis colony grows by recruiting new members into the cadre. As any military (or paramilitary, in this case) encampment would.

It does bring to mind an interesting point, though: How did the Maquis react to those residents of the DMZ who refused to join? Groups like this rarely take kindly to those who won't sign on for the "struggle".

You're redefining a word to suit your purpose and I am not going to follow you there.

Words have meaning.

Find a single colony among the thousands in Earth's history that never had children in it.

Don't bother, you won't.

I'm not talking about real colonies from our history. Only the Maquis. That situation is unique.

That makes no sense. The Maquis fight for their families, for the right to keep their pieces of land. I don't even know why I am arguing this.

Michael Edington had a WIFE!

Did you think it was platonic?

In Nemesis: When Shinzon's viceroy appears on top of Deanna... I thought it was the creepiest thing I ever saw.
